MiningOur steel framed PVC membrane clad structures offer the ideal solution for companies operating in the mining sector.

Applications include vehicle storage and maintenance workshops, bulk storage warehouses for environmentally sensitive materials and explosives, processing facilities and a wide range of custom structures.

Rubb structures offer protection for valuable mineral commodities such as copper, zinc and lead while in storage on site and at ports. They can be climate controlled by applying HVAC and dehumidification systems.

They may also be used as cost effective solutions for the storage of iron-ore and coal.

Oil and GasStructures are available to protect oil and gas projects and activities from the elements. Shelters also offer cover for oil and gas rigs and platforms while under construction or maintenance, protecting workers from wind and snow. They are simple to erect and can be relocated or packed away for later use.

Nuclear and EnvironmentalMore and more environmental engineers are turning to Rubb for resourceful answers to prevent dust, gas and other forms of pollution from escaping into the environment.

Rubb buildings and covers can also assist in processes such as nuclear decontamination work, fuel protection and waste treatment by excluding light and providing stability to treatment procedures. They can be sealed to provide a ‘negative’ pressure environment, allowing contaminated air to be removed and processed.

Barrier Ltd’s specialist coatings division offers a comprehensive range of surface preparation and surface coating, which includes shotblasting, thermal spraying of aluminium and passive fire protection, as well as specialist paint systems.

Barrier has been carrying out operations in two 20m span x 24m long Rubb NV type buildings, featuring 5m x 5m roller shutter doors in each front gable end. These buildings were supplied and erected at OGN’s Hadrian Yard, to provide additional coating facilities, which were urgently required due to the success of OGN procuring some major offshore construction projects.

Robert Bowles, Chairman of The Barrier Group, said: “We needed to create temporary production areas that would support the delivery of current contracts and also increase the capacity for the manufacture of fire rated valve boxes for the international oil and gas market.” Ken McLean, Barrier Ltd’s Project Manager, said: “The key advantage for Barrier in working with Rubb is their ability to engineer practical, cost effective solutions and deliver them within very tight project timescales.”

Insulation/HeatingThe depth of insulated cladding ranges from 50mm to 200mm, which provides a range of U Values to suit your requirements. Rubb can also supply various heat sources within the structure such as oil or gas fired hot air units, radiant heating, heat pump or electric fan heaters.

MoistureThermohall™ has excellent drainage properties, is water repellent and does not absorb moisture or odours. It helps eliminate condensation. We deliver our Thermohall™ clad structures with simple or sophisticated ventilation systems to provide a comfortable working environment.

SoundproofingTechnical regulations and guidelines set standards for sound insulation. Our patented insulated fabric cladding system satisfies the requirements for sound passage, which is essential for our customers who are located in industrial areas or near roads or airports.

RecyclableAll materials used to create a Rubb building can be recycled if necessary. No materials from Rubb structures are considered to create any toxic or hazardous waste. Steel can be recycled through various means and PVC can be recycled through Texyloop.

Sustainability/Eco FriendlyThe insulation consists mainly of recycled glass. Thermohall™ cladding can provide many environmental benefits including reduced energy use and helping support a stable indoor temperature all year round. Rubb structures are also fully reusable across the sectors we serve.

Proven Fire Safety PerformanceRubb buildings offer significant fire safety advantages over other building types, including lower risk of combustion, flashover and structural failure, even in severe fires. The fabric will not propagate flame or sustain combustion when exposed to a severe fire.

Alternative SolutionRubb Thermohall™ structures combine the best properties of conventional buildings and fabric buildings, high thermal insulation, full relocatability, and all Thermohall™ buildings can be delivered to suit the customer’s insulation requirements.

QualityThermohall™ features high density non-combustible glass wool insulation encapsulated within a heavy duty PVC fabric cladding system, which is designed and manufactured in-house to suit site specific project requirements. All materials are of the highest quality and meet regulations.
