FAMILY SUNDAY is the second Sunday of the month with a special message for children. Be sure to be here and bring as many children as you can.

SUNDAY GOSPEL In today's gospel the risen Christ

appears to the disciples and offers them the gift of peace.

Even amid doubts and questions, we experience the

resurrection in our Sunday gathering around word and

meal, and in our everyday lives. Throughout the coming

Sundays of Easter the first two readings will be from the

Acts of the Apostles and the first letter of Peter. Even as the

early Christians proclaimed the resurrection, we rejoice in

the new birth and living hope we receive in baptism.

THE FLOWERS To donate the ALTAR flowers in honor or memory of a loved one or another occasion, you will find the FLOWER CHART located on the bulletin board in the hallway to the church office.

THE CANDLE To donate the ETERNAL FLAME candle in honor or memory of a loved one or another occasion, you will find Candle chart located on the bulletin board in the hallway to the church office. The Candle or Eternal Flame is located at the front of the sanctuary and burns for seven days.

PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH – WEEK OF APRIL 26TH - THE SEASON OF EASTER

As discussed in the Gospel this Sunday, the risen Christ appears to the disciples and offers them the gift of peace. In honor of this gift, we want to highlight one of our very extraordinary ministries “PEACE CIRCLE” – this ministry consists of about 20 women of the church doing God’s work.

The women of Peace Circle consists of primarily retirees. Their work begins in September, meeting the 4th Tuesday of every month at noon in the Rainbow Room, their last meeting is in June; ending the year with a special luncheon at one of the local restaurants.

Peace Circle is very active all year with special projects. To name a few, the women provide gift items at Christmas and fun Easter baskets for girls living at Robin’s Nest, located in Woodbury, NJ. Robin’s Nest is a home for girls with unstable family situations. When the girls return to Robin’s Nest from holiday visits, the baskets are a nice little distraction and provide enjoyment for them.

The women of Peace Circle also provides for an entire family from the Christmas Giving Tree each year, which is sponsored by our Social Ministry. They prepare the tags for the Giving Tree, plan and hosts the annual Ash Wednesday luncheon with the YAH’s (Young at Heart), and many other undertakings. There is also a special luncheon held in December.

Peace Circle is a very special ministry here at Prince of Peace, their love, support and caring is immeasurable to the church family and community. We thank God for this Ministry. All are invited to join and help at any of their events throughout the year. For more information contact Ginny Fink at [email protected].

CHRIST BIDS YOU WELCOME TO THE TABLE! ALL who seek the living God are invited to commune and share in the forgiveness and strength of God. Rejoice that the living God has invited you to share in this feast that you might find newness of life in Christ. We provide options in receiving the wine: common cup at the altar, individual cups filled at the altar, pre-filled cups of grape juice or water brought by you from the tray on your way to the altar. The ushers lead us to the table where we kneel (if we are able) to receive the bread. Then we drink once a liturgical assistant says to us, “the Blood of Christ Shed for You.” Those unable to partake of wheaten bread, GLUTEN FREE COMMUNION WAFERS are now being offered. You will find small blue cubes by each of the filled wine trays. Take a cube with you to the altar and place it on the altar rail as a signal to the one distributing the bread that you wish to receive Gluten Free Bread. We then return to our pew for prayer. Children also are invited forward to receive communion or blessing at your preference. Children receiving a blessing only should cross their arms across their chest.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP – There is an old saying that when we share our feelings we double our joys and cut our troubles in half. Our hope and prayer is that we might experience a little of both in these meetings, for we will also invite the Lord to be present with us. The group will involve a small number of people (8-10) who have recently experienced loss of a loved one. This group will provide an opportunity for each person to share feeling related to their loss in a confidential and caring atmosphere. If you are interested in attending this Grief Support Group, please talk to Pastor Overcash.

PRINCE OF PEACE COUNCIL RETREAT

SATURDAY, APRIL 12TH 2014

It was a beautiful spring day on April 12th – and your Church Council Members were kind enough to spend the day indoors discussing and planning the upcoming year of Prince of Peace. Strategies and goals, hopes and ideas were deliberated in small groups and as a larger group. The Council members hope to make some positive changes and encourage more church family members to participate in the Ministries and build a more productive and active community that reaches out to its members and neighborhood. They are excited to share their concepts with you soon! They would like to thank you for your support and prayers as we all grow as a united member of Christ’s family! Thank you, Rafael Orta, for sharing the photos!
