Launched in 2011, Mint's DotUnity programme has been giving back to the community we operate in through various initiatives and "hands-on days". Our focus is on education and child and youth development as we believe that an investment in the children of today will be an investment in our society's future.

We recently came across a story published in the Mail & Guardian about service delivery protesters who burned down the only library in the Mohlakeng Township on the West Rand. In a touching reaction, the local youth rose above the challenge and started their own "underground library". Their passion and determination to rebuild the library despite their daily challenges they face really inspired a response from the greater community – having access to a well-stocked library is the cornerstone of developing skills and knowledge.

The movement to collect books and assist the youth with their love for reading was a touching story and the Mint DotUnity committee wasted no time in rallying to contribute to this fantastic initiative. We collected over 100 technology books as well as novels and other text books brought in by Mint employees.

We believe this will be a great start for the library and urge other businesses to follow suit and donate the books they are not using or have already read. If you would like to donate books to the underground library please deliver them to the Mail & Guardian offices at Grosvenor Corner, 195 Jan Smuts Avenue, corner of 7th Avenue, Rosebank.  An official launch of the library has been planned for March 21 2015 at the Mohlakeng Arts Hall.www.mint.co.za [email protected] +27 (0) 11 856 4400 @mint_consulting
