The Baker County School Board met on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. in the District

School Board Room located at 270 South Boulevard East, Macclenny, Florida. The purpose of this

meeting was to hold the regularly scheduled Board business meeting. Chairperson Earl “Dwight” Crews

announced that Thomas Hill was going to give the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led

by Robin Mobley.

CALL TO ORDER – 5:00 P.M.

Chairperson Crews called the meeting of the Baker County School Board to order and asked for

a roll call of members. The following Board Members were present to wit: Chairperson Earl “Dwight”

Crews, Vice-Chairperson Paula T. Barton, Richard “Dean” Griffis, Charlie M. Burnett, III (Artie). Board

member Patricia C. Weeks was not in attendance at this meeting. Superintendent Sherrie Raulerson and

School Board Attorney John W. Caven, Jr. were both in attendance at the meeting.

There were no public hearings at this meeting.

RECOGNITIONS

Recognize Retiree Linda Gayle Combs (Hire Date: 12/15/1980; Retire Date: 03/31/2016)

Superintendent Raulerson recognized retiree Linda Gayle Combs for her years of service to our

district with a commemorative plaque. Superintendent Raulerson noted that Mrs. Combs was a wonderful

history teacher that did great things in the lives of children.

Recognize Retiree Cathy Williams (Hire Date: 08/17/1981; Retire Date: 05/31/2016)

Ms. Williams was not in attendance at the meeting.

Recognize Retiree Jana Crews (Hire Date: 08/19/1993; Retire Date: 06/09/2016)

Superintendent Raulerson recognized retiree Jana Crews for her years of service to our district

with a commemorative plaque. Superintendent Raulerson noted that Mrs. Crews was a wonderful pre-

kindergarten teacher and was able to achieve amazing things with 4 year old students.

Recognize Retiree Margie Guy (Hire Date: 09/14/1981; Retire Date: 04/29/2016)

Ms. Guy was not in attendance at the meeting.

Recognize Retiree Jane Rhoden (Hire Date: 08/19/1985; Retire Date: 06/09/2016)

Ms. Rhoden was not in attendance at the meeting.

Recognize Retiree Mary Howell (Hire Date: 08/19/1998; Retire Date: 06/07/2016)

Superintendent Raulerson recognized retiree Mary Howell for her years of service to our district

with a commemorative plaque. Superintendent Raulerson noted that Ms. Howell was a wonderful ESE

paraprofessional and described her loving and peaceful attributes that made her so great for her position.

Recognize Retiree Tina Davis (Hire Date: 08/31/1981; Retire Date: 05/31/2016)

Superintendent Raulerson recognized retiree Tina Davis for her years of service to our district with

a commemorative plaque. Superintendent Raulerson noted that Ms. Davis was a great physical education

teacher and also shared her creative talents with the staff and students through art.

APPROVAL TO CORRECT AND/OR ADD ITEMS TO THE FINAL AGENDA

Approval to Remove Item D – “Approval of the New Career Pathways Articulation

Agreement with Florida Gateway College for the 2016-2017 Academic Year. (Allows High

School Students to Earn College Credits via CTE Courses.)” – From the Agenda. Per Ann

Watts, Florida Gateway College Made Revisions – The Revised Articulation Agreement

will be Re-Submitted for Approval at a Later Date.

Approval to Add the Word ‘State’ to Item F. “Approval of Out of State Travel for

Franklin Griffis on July 11-15, 2016, to the National Materials Handling Institute CTE

Educator’s Summit in Allentown, PA. FUNDING SOURCE: Federal (Carl Perkins,

Secondary Grant) and National Materials Handling Institute”

Chairperson Crews read the above noted recommended corrections to the agenda and entertained

a motion from the Board. As recommended by Superintendent Raulerson, Dean Griffis made a motion to

approve, seconded by Paula Barton. The motion carried 4-0.

Chairperson Crews asked if any Board member wished to remove a routine item for separate
