2018 ANNUAL MAPDD CONFERENCE
CONFERENCEHIGHLIGHTS
The Executive Directors of the Planning and Development Districts welcome you to the 2018 Annual PDD Conference. The PDDs would like for this conference to help you better understand what is happening from a local, state and national perspective. Communities face many challenges, and the PDDs hope that this conference will help you find new opportunities to address those challenges.
GENERAL SESSIONS: We have three great speakers joining us this year for the general sessions. Joe McKinney, Executive Director of the National Association of Development Organizations will welcome conference participants during the opening session and discuss the relationship between the Planning and Development Districts and MDHS. We are thrilled to have Glenn McCullough, Mississippi Development Authority’s Executive Director joining MAPDD for lunch on Wednesday and Mississippi Treasurer Lynn Fitch for our Thursday luncheon.
CONCURRENT SESSIONS: We will have numerous concurrent sessions throughout the conference. This will include multiple panel discussions related to Federal and State grant funding and Revolving Loan Fund Resources and Partners. Other sessions include: legislative updates from MAS and MML, geographical information systems digital mapping, workforce and economic development, financial resources for small businesses, and continuing education credit for social workers among many other topics of interest to conference participants. From learning how to put together viable projects, to promoting economic growth and workforce training, you’ll be able to find something of interest and educational in each concurrent session.
ENTERTAINMENT: Tuesday will include the Valley Golden Gator Golf Classic and Early Bird Reception at the Biloxi Shuckers game sponsored by Valley Services, Inc., as well as a painting party at B.Y.O. Brush Studio. Wednesday will end with a Cocktail Hour sponsored by VALIC followed by dinner on your own. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served Thursday at the Gala Reception and entertainment will be provided by Musical Fantasy. Then on Friday, join us for breakfast before you start your trip home.
