IN-HOUSE TRAINING PROGRAMMES
2013-14
KOLKATA CLUSTER
Message from Mr. Derek Michael Shah, EVP & Head - MMH IC
Dear Colleagues,
I find it very heartening and so appropriate to release the Training Calendar for the Current Year
given the context of business scenario that we are presently witnessing.
We are all aware that the market place has become extremely competitive and that the 'business
as usual' is no more acceptable and winning has become a dire necessity to survive in this
'Industrial Jungle'. There are continuous onslaughts of experienced foreign giants who are
venturing into our country since it continues to provide relatively better business opportunities.
Minnows of yesterday, whom we did not count as competitors are all fiercely encroaching into
our market share and entering new areas which we never could have imagined.
How do we fight this battle day in and day out apart from cutting cost, forging new alliances and
other typical business strategies?
We need to constantly reinvent ourselves so that we can always be ahead of the pack and there
could be no better way than to be more knowledgeable, skillful and trained than the others.
MMH IC has always prided itself for its excellent sets of people who have won, managed and
executed projects, most of the times not only meeting but exceeding the customer's expectations
and in the process always to have set benchmarks in the Industry. With meteoric growth rates
being achieved by our MMH IC there continues to be a constant need to increase the bandwidth
of these knowledgeable and experienced persons upon whom the success of the IC lies.
Therein lies the critical role and importance of Training and Development which our HR
Department has so successfully crafted and developed.
I wish the best to all the people who undertake these training programs and remind them of the
expectations of the management that go along with such opportunities that are made available. I
also thank and give my best wishes to the faculty and the people involved in making these
programs happen since their efforts deserve equal credit to those of our other business initiatives,
since they help us build people who make our tomorrow's business better.
With my warm regards,
Derek Michael Shah EVP & Head
Dear Colleagues,
We in the Learning & Development team are delighted to announce the Annual Training
Calendar of our IC for the year 2013 – 14.
We are continuously striving to align our training interventions to IC’s strategic goals.
Individual needs identified through FAIR process and inputs from BUs / Departments /
Clusters on current business priorities). Increasingly Learning design and delivery are being
directed towards meeting the emerging business needs also. In the days ahead our
endeavour would be on offering blended learning solutions to our staff members, thereby a
mix of class-room programs, e-learning facilities, on-the-job training, mentoring, special
assignments etc. would be rolled out.
Sharing of knowledge and experience is the fuel for our growth engine. Recognizing this
need we have started facilitating Knowledge Sharing Sessions at our offices/sites where
employees periodically present their learning from various programs that they have
attended. I would request all the participants of the training programs to share their
knowledge / take-aways with team members through these forums. I would also urge each
one of you to take full advantage of the ATL (Any Time Learning, our online learning portal)
which would enable pursuing a host of courses at your own pace, place and convenience.
I look forward to receiving your continued support in all our initiatives.
Regards,
Jagannath Oleti
