Modis Managed Solutions

Modis Managed Solutions is: • outsourced technology projects to a team of specialists • managing the entire effort • providing thought leadership to assess business needs • delivering the solution Our approach -- looking at the business as a whole, and not separate transactions. Currently engagements range from a singular Program Management Office assessment to outsourced management of multiple teams of PMs, Analysts and Developers.

Our CORE COMPETENCIES

Page 6: MMS Managed Projects - Presentation

Managed Projects

The opportunity is for Modis to manage the project versus our client. Managed project or project management, it’s really the same. A “project” is defined as (by PMI): What is Project Management? More specifically, what is a project? It's a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. A project is temporary in that it has a defined beginning and end in time, and therefore defined scope and resources. And a project is unique in that it is not a routine operation, but a specific set of operations designed to accomplish a singular goal. So a project team often includes people who don’t usually work together – sometimes from different organizations and across multiple geographies.

Managed Projects

(Definition continued)

The development of software for an improved business process, the construction of a building or bridge, the relief effort after a natural disaster, the expansion of sales into a new geographic market — all are projects. And all must be expertly managed to deliver the on-time, on-budget results, learning and integration that organizations need. Project management, then, is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to manage activities to meet the project requirements.

MP Points of Emphasis

• On premise management of milestone based projects • Outsourced management of:

• Software Dev/QA • IT Infrastructure

• Modis writes the SOW, including deliverables/SLAs and timeline • Mods selects, deploys and manages team • Pricing can be T&M or fixed monthly • Custom to client, using SMEs or Partners

• Modis recruits SMEs and builds the entire team • 100% dependent on SME/Partner

• Architect, PM, or Tech Manager • Typically multiple phases, over months or years

Temp vs. Managed Projects – A Client’s Definition

Temporary workers: • The supplier is providing a resource(s) for a specific job function • Client hiring manager has reviewed resumes, interviewed, and selected the worker(s) • Client hiring manager will direct the activities of the workers on a day to day basis • The supplier has based their fees on hourly wages • As the hiring manager you are approving time cards for these workers • The worker is responsible for the end work product • The worker must end the assignment and client after 12 months.

Managed Projects/SOW: • The supplier is providing end to end management of the managed service or project • The supplier identifies the workers with the skills and experience for the work to be done,

the Client manager is not part of the hiring process • The supplier has presented their fees based on an amount for the entire service or project

to include anticipated overtime, travel, expenses and delivery of work product • The supplier manages the day to day activities of all workers • The supplier provides updates, reporting and statuses to the Client manager • There is no limit to the project duration

Benefits to Clients

Utilize external technical expertise/resources/teams to deliver projects; These external resources/teams are ONLY focused on the project These external resources/teams have recent and relevant experience as it

relates directly to the project, i.e. they are hired guns, this is what they do, they’ve just done this, etc…

Allows client to remain focused on their CORE business; ‘Non core is outsourced…’ Increased bandwidth for their FTEs

Cost reduction Decreased time to staff and manage new projects On average we are half of the bigs!

Time reduction Increased speed and efficiency to complete project

Customized and flexible solutions specific to their project Protection from co-employment concerns Retain project knowledge, “tribal knowledge” (vs fully outsourced) Avoid tenure limits

Page 12: MMS Managed Projects - Presentation

Benefits to Modis

Perception; “Partner” status vs. “staffing” vendor Greater control to select and manage our resources Greater number of resources, all vs one Greater presence/engagement with our client, generally onsite Ability to price the service and not the resource, less scrutiny on rates Commitment to funding with locked Purchase Orders (PO);

All IT Projects have a “cost” or “cost estimation” or “bucket of money” that funds the project, generally that $ is pre-determined and pre-approved, so it can be and will be spent!

Longer engagements, avoid tenure limits When executed properly WILL lead to follow up work, either from extensions or new projects!

CLIENT OVERVIEW Fairview Health Services is a large network of hospitals and clinics that operates throughout the state of Minnesota. Fairview currently maintains 10 hospitals, 48 primary care clinics and a range of other specialty clinics throughout the Twin Cities region and greater Minnesota.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE In 2015, Fairview needed to undergo a massive Windows 7 migration project across their entire network of hospitals and clinics. In total, over 23,000 units needed to be migrated. This provided several logistical challenges. First, in order to not disrupt critical hospital and clinic operations, their systems could not be down for long periods of time. Second, Fairview needed to complete the entire migration in just 9 months. Fairview asked Modis to design a customized, strategic solution that would deliver the migrations on schedule without interrupting their operations.

OUR SOLUTION Modis put together a comprehensive management team designed to complete the migration on time and under budget. The team included a Program Director, Project Coordinators, and 40 flexible Desktop Support personnel, all of whom were on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Fairview outsourced the entire project to Modis, and we managed the entire team throughout the duration of the migration.

BENEFITS / ROI Modis was able to complete the entire migration of 23,000 units in 8 months, a month ahead of schedule. We also were able to finish the entire

eBay

Challenge - Fall 2015. Consolidate all security data sources and provide analytic trends on eBay’s security vulnerabilities. The dashboard is requested by the CISO, and visible across every BU. Solution - Modis proposed building a prototype, conducting UAT, incorporate findings, and lastly add data sources from eBay’s 25 external BU’s (StubHub, eBay Motors, etc.). We’ve successfully completed phase 1, and presented to the CTO and CISO. Now, our team has been granted phase 2. All of the effort is managed by our Engagement Manager, Haleh Aminfayezi.
