Hemp Jersey: Our custom hemp jersey fabric is as soft as your favorite t-shirt but is more durable than pure cotton of the same weight and absorbs 25% more moisture! By using hemp, we are able to offer a solid amount of absorbency to a diapering system without adding a tremendous amount of bulk. No other hemp jersey on the market compares. We searched high and low until we found a domestic knitter to custom manufacture the hemp textile to our strict specifications. The result is a thicker, softer, and more durable hemp textile that we are proud of and we know you will love.

PUL: A high-tech waterproof, yet breathable, fabric used in all Thirsties waterproof diapers. PUL, which stands for polyurethane laminate, is made from a very durable (and colorful!) polyester knit. No stuffy plastic or rubber pants! Thirsties waterproof fabric is the most reliable, pliable, and comfortable outer layer on the market for your baby.

Gusset: A gusset is a triangular insert added to the leg openings of Thirsties products for added strength and expansion. Thirsties signature leg gussets move with your baby, providing advanced protection against leaks. Aplix®: A hook-and-loop fastening system invented over 50 years ago and inspired by nature’s cockleburs. Closure Options:Both snap and Aplix® closures are available on Thirsties Duo Wraps. While the majority of families prefer Aplix® closures because of the simple, secure fit they provide, snap closures do have a few advantages of their own. They are pretty much indestructible. This is no ordinary prefold! Thirsties is revolutionizing the most widely used cloth diaper in the world. Prefold cloth diapers are popular for their affordability, and are the most common diaper supplied by cloth diaper services. Though they don’t share all the bells and whistles of other, more modern cloth diapers, they have their definite and permanent place in the industry, and they have been proven dependable and economical.

However, Thirsties duo Hemp Prefolds are different. We’ve solved many of the cons of prefold diapers in our unique design. Ordinary prefolds are bulky and take a long time to dry. “Is it difficult to wash cloth diapers at home?” Not at all! Laundering your cloth diapers at home is a snap! Just brush up on the following basic guidelines and allow your machine to complete the majority of the task for you.

before wearing Wash all diapers at least one time before use. Washing and drying your hemp diapers and inserts at least three times before use will wash away the natural oils that inhibit absorption.

diaper changing stationShake solids into toilet after each diaper change. Store your soiled Thirsties Cloth Diapers in a DRY diaper pail. A standard 52-quart garbage pail with a lid works great and can be purchased at your local department store. Be sure to line your pail with a Thirsties Deluxe Diaper Pail Liner to avoid having to clean your pail on every laundry day. Stow your stash of Thirsties Fab Wipes and a bottle of Thirsties Booty Luster in an accessible location to your changing table. Mist your baby’s soiled diaper area and wipe clean with Thirsties Fab Wipes.

pre-washFor optimum cleanliness, limit the size of your load to no more than 18 diapers and wash every other day. Use COLD water for the pre-wash cycle with ½ ounce of Thirsties Pre-Wash solution to help pre-clean your diapers. If you do not have a pre-wash cycle on your washer, a short or quick-wash cycle will work just as well.

washChoose a HEAVY cycle and wash on HOT with ½ ounce of Thirsties Super Wash. If you have a new high-efficiency washer, do not use the sanitize cycle as the extremely high temperatures will damage the diaper components. Use ½ ounce of Thirsties Super Wash per load. Thirsties Pre-Wash and Super Wash are safe and have been custom formulated for use with cloth diapers. Avoid all soaps as well as ‘Free & Clear’ and popular baby detergents. Most detergents on the market will leave a residue on your diapers that will affect absorbency and cause odors or diaper rash. Be sure not to use bleach or fabric softeners either. OxyClean® Baby is safe for occasional use, but is not necessary when using Thirsties Super Wash in combination with HOT water. Thirsties Super Wash is uniquely formulated to naturally brighten and eliminate harmful bacteria.
