INTRUSIVE PROBESStork has a dedicated team of live line retrieval specialists to service intrusive Corrosion Monitoring devices under operational conditions. We can support and monitor both mechanical and hydraulic fittings and have developed an innovative procedure to allow us to convert fittings on live lines. Our intrusive monitoring solutions capability is divided into Real-Time Monitoring services and Offline Monitoring services. Our Real-Time Monitoring solutions include: Erosion Probes, Electrical Resistance Probes, HSER, Linear Polarisation Probes, Galvanic Probes and Bio Probes. Offline Monitoring is conducted using Corrosion Coupons.

FIELD SIGNATURE METHOD (FSM)The Field Signature Method (FSM) system is one of Stork’s most effective non-intrusive Corrosion Monitoring technologies. The latest version of the system, the FSMLog offers even greater accuracy and reliability than any of its predecessors. It uses a unique electric field signature to create a structure map of the pipeline’s internals, which is ideal for detecting localised metal loss in hard to reach and high temperature locations. The system’s high temperature and online logging capabilities make it one of the best available methods for the continuous monitoring of metallic structures.

ELECTRICAL FIELD MAPPING/PINPOINT (EFM)Stork recently launched the Electrical Field Mapping (EFM) or PinPoint system, the latest wall thickness and deformation tool to be added to Stork’s Corrosion Monitoring portfolio. PinPoint is a non-intrusive device, which uses the electrical properties of the spool to monitor the rate and volume of metal loss – vital for process operations. The technology can be installed using stud welded pins, but is ideally installed as a spring loaded bolt sleeve – a two piece assembly that carries an array of electrodes, thermocouples and current injectors.

STRAIN GAUGEThe fibre optic Strain Gauge is another new technology, which complements Stork’s existing Strain Monitoring capabilities. The fibre optic Strain Gauge is both robust and completely immune to EMI Noise. It offers a flexible solution for Operators seeking a versatile solution to their Strain Monitoring requirements and can be installed on almost any pipeline or structure across a wide range of industries. Suitable for buried pipeline applications, the Strain Gauge collects data and automatically uploads it to the DMAT server for instant download and analysis in any location.

With over 30 years’ experience, Stork’s Monitoring Solutions department is uniquely positioned to deliver a range of traditional and advanced techniques for monitoring the rate of corrosion, erosion, stress, temperature, strain or intrusion on pipelines both on and offshore.

Our Monitoring Solutions capability is divided into three service offerings:

 Corrosion Monitoring

 Strain Monitoring

 Intrusion Monitoring

CORROSION MONITORINGProvides Operators with the means to monitor the rate of corrosion on their assets, identifying and continuously reporting on areas of concern, and enabling the planning of effective remedial work. Monitoring corrosion on essential lines is vital, as it contributes to the failure of equipment and loss of containment, as well as posing a risk to personnel and the environment.

STRAIN MONITORINGIs used to measure the effects of strain on a pipeline or structure over a long period of time. The most common method for measuring strain uses strain gauge technology. Strain gauges have historically used electronic resistance based sensors to measure the rate of distortion, though alternatives, such as vibrating wire, are available. Stork has recently achieved approved supplier and installer status on a state of the art fibre optic strain gauge system.

INTRUSION MONITORINGInvolves the use of acoustic and fibre optic technologies to monitor leakage and intrusion, primarily on buried pipelines. Such assets are vulnerable to excavation works and even criminal activity and can be accidently stricken without notice.

Stork is an expert provider of a comprehensive range of monitoring technologies and can install and service systems produced by all the leading manufacturers. With a dedicated team of impartial specialists and a global track record, we are the ideal partner to support your assets’ Monitoring Solutions requirements.
