Problem: Mosler Round Door Nite Drop Safe Will Not Open

Emergency call customer has tried combination several times and cannot get inCustomer reports upon arrival that “they have had trouble getting in in the past”

Problem:

Dial Lock contact point not dropping at drop in point when correct combination is dialedAttempt to dial in numbers high and low

Attempt to Dead blow Safe door to prompt Fence arm to drop into wheel packsBy Dead blow and handle pressure Fence drops into wheel pack allowing door to open

Identification of Problem:

Lock was inspected and found to have the following;1) 4 Screws loose on body attached to door backing2) Appears that lock was mounted with custom back pressure spring on bolt and is attached to

S&S 6730 lock3) Combination will not set up when changing combination4) Fence is bent along with screw and arm causing fence not to drop into wheel pack

Dial Ring is not tight

Resolution of S&G Mounted lock:

1) Replaced spring, fence and screw from new lock2) Loctite (Blue) all 4 screws on mounting body of lock to door3) Loctite blue dial ring and center on hole4) Return combination to original combination5) Test ½ digit high and low when testing, test 6 time before closing door6) Customer test lock- WE SAW PROBLEMS

Identification of possible problems in future: Lock and Assembly Removed due to Confidence Test .

1) Handle on round door must spin to line up to black mark or dial cannot be spun off, tolerance in tight and binding could take place within lock assembly putting pressure on fence, and an screw which retracts bolt into body of safe. Spring should be updated. Lock should be replaced to La guard for less back pressure issues

2) Recommend Installer Come Back and do job correctly, This has been issue for while according to customer. They have problems getting in.....

Recommended Resolution:1) Identify Black Mark by making larger2) Train Customer on nature of Lining up black mark when spinning off dial3) File Down Edge of protruding bolt upon entering safe housing from door to allow a smooth

transition, decrease play in strike area consider added stop point.4) Lock should be replaced to La guard for less back pressure issues5) Spring should be updated
