Screw HolesWhen you nstall the manboard, you have to place the manboard nto the chasss n the correct drecton. The locatons of screws holes on the manboard are shown as below.

Refer above pcture to nstall standoffs n the approprate locatons on chasss and then screw through the manboard screw holes nto the standoffs.

ImportantTo prevent damage to the manboard, any contact between the manboard crcut and chasss or unnecessary standoffs mounted on the chasss s prohbted.Please make sure there s no metal components placed on the manboard or wthn the chasss that may cause short crcut of the manboard.

CPU (Central Processng Unt)When you are nstallng the CPU, make sure to nstall the cooler to prevent overheatng. If you do not have the CPU cooler, consult your dealer before turnng on the computer.For the latest nformaton about CPU, please vst http://www.ms.com/ndex.php?func=cpuform2

ImportantOverheatngOverheatng wll serously damage the CPU and system. Always make sure the coolng fan can work properly to protect the CPU from overheatng. Make sure that you apply an even layer of thermal paste (or thermal tape) between the CPU and the heatsnk to enhance heat dsspaton.

Replacng the CPUWhle replacng the CPU, always turn off the ATX power supply or unplug the power supplys power cord from the grounded outlet first to ensure the safety of CPU.

OverclockngThs manboard s desgned to support overclockng. However, please make sure your components are able to tolerate such abnormal settng, whle dong overclockng. Any attempt to operate beyond product specficatons s not recommended. We do not guar-antee the damages or rsks caused by nadequate operaton or beyond product spec-ficatons.

CPU & Cooler InstallatonWhen you are nstallng the CPU, make sure the CPU has a cooler attached on the top to prevent overheatng. Meanwhle, do not forget to apply some thermal paste on CPU before nstallng the heat snk/cooler fan for better heat dsperson. Follow the steps below to nstall the CPU & cooler correctly. Wrong nstallaton wll cause the damage of your CPU & manboard

If the CPU s correctly nstalled, the pns should be completely embedded nto the socket and can not be seen. Please note that any volaton of the correct nstallaton procedures may cause permanent damages to your manboard.

3. Press the CPU down firmly nto the socket and close the lever. As the CPU s lkely to move whle the lever s beng closed, always close the le-ver wth your fingers pressng tghtly on top of the CPU to make sure the CPU s properly and completely em-bedded nto the socket.

Pull the lever sdeways away from the socket. Make sure to rase the lever up to a 90-degree angle.

1. Look for the gold arrow of the CPU. The gold arrow should pont as shown n the pcture. The CPU can only fit n the correct orentaton.

The appearance of your manboard may vary dependng on the model you purchase.Whle dsconnectng the Safety Hook from the fixed bolt, t s necessary to keep an eye on your fingers, because once the Safety Hook s dsconnected from the fixed bolt, the fixed lever wll sprng back nstantly.

Poston the coolng set onto the re-tenton mechansm. Hook one end of the clp to hook first.

5. Then press down the other end of the clp to fasten the coolng set on the top of the retenton mechansm. Locate the Fx Lever and lft up t.

Fasten down the lever.7. Attach the CPU Fan cable to the CPU fan connector on the manboard.

You can use them to change FSB clock at any tme under the operatng system. Ths method does not need to nstall software or reboot. Please follow the steps below to ncrease or decrease the FSB clock.

Press the OC Dal button to start adjustment. The OC Dal LED wll lght to ndcate current operaton.

Turn the OC Dal knob clockwse/ant-clockwse to ncrease/decrease FSB clock. You can set the value of OC Dal Step n BIOS.

Press the OC Dal button agan to complete adjustment. The OC Dal LED wll turn off automatcally.

ImportantBefore you use OC Dal functon to overclock the system. In order to ncrease the success rate, you should set the voltage n BIOS properly.After each of the adjustments, ths feature should be shut down. Otherwse, t would affect the system performance. ImportantIf you do not have any EMI problem, leave the settng at [Dsabled] for optmal system stablty and performance. The ntegrate one SATA host controller separately, and support RAID functon for performance and relablty. SB850 SATA RAID provdes support for RAID 0 (Strp-ng), RAID 1 (Mrrorng), RAID 10 (Strpng & Mrrorng) & RAID 5 (strpng wth party). RAID 0 greatly mproves hard dsk I/O performance by concurrently strpng data across multple drves. RAID 1 makes sure data s not lost f a drve fals as data s smultaneously wrtten to two drves. Drves configured for RAID Strpng are sad to form a RAID 0 set, whle drves configured for RAID Mrrorng are sad to form a RAID 1 set. RAID 10 s mple-mented as a mrrored array whose segments are RAID 0 arrays. RAID 10 has same fault tolerance as mrrorng and reduces overhead by strpng. It needs at least four drves to form a RAID 10. RAID 5 defines technques for party data.

LD Vew / LD Define Menu (Creatng RAID)The selecton of the RAID configuraton should be based upon factors ncludng perfor-mance, data securty, and the number of drves avalable. It s best to carefully consder the long-term role of the system and plan the data storage strategy. RAID sets can be created ether automatcally, or to allow the greatest flexblty, manually.

Press 2 on the Man Menu screen to enter the LD Vew Menu. 1.

And then press [Ctrl + C] keys to enter the LD Define Menu. Use the space key to choose a RAID mode (RAID 0/ 1/ 10/ 5) and use the arrow key to move to the Drves Assgnments wndow.

On the Drves Assgnments wndow, use the arrow key to choose the hard drves whch you want to make part of the LD, use the space key to change the assgnment to Y. Then press [Ctrl+Y] to save the configuraton.

Installng the RAID Drver (for bootable RAID Array) After you complete the RAID BIOS setup, boot from the Wndows CD, and the Wn-dows Setup program starts.

Press F6 and wat for the Wndows Setup screen to appear.

Insert the floppy that contans the RAID drver, press the S key to select Specfy Addtonal Devce.

ImportantPlease follow the nstructon below to make a SATA RAID drver for yourself.

Insert the MSI DVD nto the DVD-ROM drve.Clck the Browse CD on the Setup screen.Copy all the contents n the : \\ChpSet\AMD\Packages\Drvers\SBDrv\SB8xx\RAID\ (and then, please select a folder whch was classfied accordng to OS.) The drver dsk for RAID controller s done.

For Wndows Vsta/ Wndows 7: Durng the Operatng system nstallaton, after selectng the locaton to nstall Vsta/ Wndows 7 clck on Load Drver button to load RAID drve.

You should be shown a lst of avalable RAID controller(s).

Select the compatble RAID controller for 32-bt/ 64-bt verson system and then press ENTER.

The next screen should confirm that you have selected the RAID controller. Press ENTER agan to contnue.

You have successfully nstalled the RAID drver, and Wndows setup should con-tnue.

Leave the medum untl the system reboots tself. Wndows setup wll need to copy the files from the medum agan after the RAID volume s formatted, and Wndows setup starts copyng files.

The DVD wll auto-run and the setup screen wll appear.
