What is motivation ???

Motivation increases an individual's energy and activity level.

Everyone has motivations to attain success and to avoid pain, often via food, exercise, rest, shelter, parental care, sex, and aggression.

Motivation is a powerful tool in the hands of leaders.

Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviors.

Ask what want out of work

Consider each employee’s age and life stage

Match motivators to the company or department culture

Tips for motivating employee:

Pinpoint each employee’s personality

Use flexibility wisely

Put money in its place

Don’t rely on stock options

Offer help with career goals

Help employees learn

Recognize that motivation isn’t always the answer
