Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility Google's $12.5 billion takeover of Motorola Mobility,

priced at 32 times the latter's earnings, is the costliest takeover in the last 12 years.

Motorola's impressive array of more than 17,000 existing patents, and 7,500 more that are pending, in mobile technology.

The price of $12.5bn, or $40 per share, represents a 63% premium on the closing share price of Motorola Mobility.

Google CEO Larry Page – “The deal with Motorola would ``supercharge the entire Android ecosystem.'‘

The acquisition dwarfs Google's previous biggest deal, the 2008 purchase of Double Click for US$3.2 billion.
