Troy Herfoss / Team Joe Rocket
Troy Herfoss, 2010 Australian Supersport Champion,
kicked off his rookie superbike season last weekend
at the opening round of the Australian Superbike
Championship.
Yet, despite his apprehension and the presence of
world Superbike riders who were also starting their
season, Troy Herfoss did not disappoint. Better still,
the young Suzuki rider stole the limelight.
Troy indeed came fourth in race 1 despite having
made a poor tyre choice, and then clinched a superb
second place in race 2, nishing just behind Glen
Allerton, 2008 superbike champion and also double
winner of the weekend.
In the Supersport category, another Suzuki rider was
equally impressive: Brodie Waters! Only just 18 years
old, the younger brother of Josh Waters won the rst
of the two weekend races and nally clinched third
place in the overall standings of his category at the
end of the weekend.

Michel Fabrizio / Team Suzuki Alstare
After tests during the inter-season period, Michel
Fabrizio, the new Suzuki Alstare Team rider, participa-
ted last weekend in his rst race in the Suzuki team of
which Motul is a partner.
Still in the learning phase as regards his GSX-R 1000,
the Italian rider nevertheless demonstrated on the
4.445 Phillip Island circuit that he was a tough custo-
mer for his fellow contenders this season.
For a long time in the lead in race 1, Fabrizio unfor-
tunately had to relinquish his hopes of mounting the
podium following tyre problems.
All in all, his 6th
(race 1) and 8th
(race 2) positions placed
him 6th in the World Superbike overall standings on the
eve of the rst round of the 2011 season.
Rider of the Joe Rocket Team and participating in the
Australian Superbike Championship, Josh Waters
was also on the starting grid of the event thanks to
Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s wildcard*. At age 24, Josh
clinched 18th (race 1) and 13th place (race 2).

Julie Quignard - Thomas Dalheine / Renault 4L
Take 1,250 Renault 4Ls, add 2,500 students from
all over Europe, a total event length of 6,000 km
combining roads, desert tracks and dunes, and
complete it all with a departure from the Stade de
France. That’s the recipe for the 4L Trophy Rally!
Despite all these highly impressive gures, the 4L
Trophy Rally is above all a 10-day human experience, a
sports* event showing solidarity, traditionally organised
from mid-February between Paris and Marrakech and
exclusively reserved for students aged 18 to 28.
Among the teams that participated in this 14th edition
of the event, team 815 composed of Julie QUIGNARD
and Thomas DALHEINE proudly defended Motul’s co-
lours by securing a superb 60th place (out of the 1250)!
‘We are really thrilled with this unforgettable experien-
ce. Despite its advanced age and apart from a little
breakdown just 30 km from the arrival, our good old 4L
put on a brave show! Even if we took part in the event
above all for its human and social aspects (82 tons
of school supplies were carried by the participants to
the Children of the Desert Association), we are never-
theless very proud of this 60th place in the nal stan-
dings’, said Julie during the return journey.
*: As any notion of speed is ruled out, the participants compete in desert
orienteering events.

Stewart & Lipanovich / Team Suzuki City Nitro Circus

All the contenders of the highly
popular American Supercross Cham-
pionship came together last weekend
in Atlanta for the second round of the
season on the East coast. As a remin-
der, supercross is a sport equivalent
to motocross but is raced on very
short, highly technical tracks, at a very
intense pace...
Organised in the largest American sta-
diums, these events generally attract
large crowds of spectators. In Atlanta,
there were 69,000 onlookers! Motul
supports the Suzuki City team, whose
two riders - Malcolm Stewart and
Sean Lipanovich – are participating in
the Lites category in all the East coast
rounds. The two rookies – it’s their rst
year as professional riders – will have
to show exemplary talent because the
level of performance is very high.
The two youths are however learning
fast, as evidenced by the ne 8th place
secured by Malcom – the younger bro-
ther of James Stewart, one of the stars
of the sport – last Saturday!
