Thank you to Lay Leaders! Sarah Adams is so thankful to have the support of some special people in our community who volunteered to become lay leaders for the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP), a UGA grant-funded research study that is nearing completion. The following people participated in a 4-day training to co-lead chronic disease self-management workshops that lasted 6 weeks. Each session took place once a week for 2.5 hours-that's 15 hours per workshop, not counting travel time, including several workshops in Valdosta. There were also leaders that agreed to be cross-trained to lead another 8 week version of the same program. Sarah wants to express sincere thanks for their commitment of time and self to help others in need. She is grateful and humbled to see those in our community help other people enduring chronic illnesses experience a better quality of life. We would like to acknowledge the following lay leaders:

*Glenda Bivins Kim Flowers *Virginia Hart Tammy May Robin McCord

(*indicates cross-trained)

Nancy McGilvray Sarai Payne *Troy Payne Danielle Posey *Devin Wisham

Gavin at Sunset Elementary loves the meals that Savannah Mothershed, the Y Food Program Director, brings each day.

The Y has served over 350 different children nearly 11,000 meals this school year alone.
