    Bill of Material (BOM)

    A critical input to the MRP process is the bill of material (BOM), which shows how components

    and semifinished products are combined to produce the final product. A graphical representation

    of the BOM for the NR!A bar is shown below"

    #he raw materials (Oats, $heat erm, etc.) are combined in a mi%er to produce a &'' lb. batch

    of dough. #he dough is then transferred to the baing line, where it is formed into bars, baed

    feasible or desirable. $hat these firms do is create product groups, and then plan production fora small number of product groups and then transfer these plans to indi+idual products based on
