MRROS is Margaret River Region Open Studios, an incorporated not-for-profit organisation administered by a Board of professionals, artists, volunteers and contracted personnel whose aim is to promote Visual Arts throughout the Region.

MRROS designs, co-ordinates and promotes an annual Open Art Studios Event to showcase the increasingly diverse and vibrant visual arts throughout the Margaret River Region. This event begins on 11th April and runs until 27th April 2015.

Our vision is to develop the event into a celebrated festival of art benefiting the entire community, art loving public and the whole Margaret River Region.

THE MRROS EVENTThe Margaret River Region Open Studios is a 17-day event offering a trail of discovery for all art lovers.

80 plus visual artists and artisans will open the doors to their art studios and workshops, delivering a unique experience for art lovers to meet the creator of the artwork, peruse original artworks and of course purchase artwork. Work may include painting, drawings, sculpture, hand blown glass, print making, handmade furniture, as well as jewellery, ceramics, textiles and many other media.

Geographically grouped venues across Busselton, Margaret River, Augusta, Vasse, Yallingup, Quindalup, Dunsborough, Cowaramup will be shown on maps so visitors can design their own art trails.

Entry is free.EVENT DATES 11th April – 27th April 2015The annual MRROS event launches during the Easter school holidays in artists studios and workshops. During the event participants can choose to close for some of the 17 days.

WHEREParticipating artists will open their art studios and workshops across the whole of the Margaret River Region.

TAKING PART IN THE EVENTCOSTSARTIST MRROS MEMBERSHIP (Annual) $100 per person

ARTIST EVENT PARTICIPATION $150 per person

ARTIST EVENT PARTICIPATION (Affiliated art groups, student groups, schools, clubs) $250 per group

AM I ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT? The MRROS ethos is one of inclusiveness. Professional, established, emerging and hobbyist artists or affiliated groups working in any medium are invited to open their art studios, workshops and homes to the public over the event period each autumn. Venues can also extend to wineries, cafes and community premises.

You are eligible to participate if you are:

• A practicing visual artist or artisan residing or working within the MRROS Event region.

• An affiliated art group, a student group, school or club residing or working within the MRROS Event region.

• All participants must take out ARTIST MEMBERSHIP.

• Your registration for the event will be confirmed upon payment of the ARTIST PARTICIPATION FEE.

Since living in the South West of WA John has continued to teach in schools, lectured in drawing and painting through TAFEWA and now presents private workshops and classes. John has painted traditional portraits from life for many years, most recently Archbishop Hickey in 2011 and Norman Moore 2013.He is frequently represented in exhibitions and galleries in Western Australia with feature articles written about his work in many Australian artists magazines.

John Garde

Jenny’s studio is nestled among the vineyards of providing inspiration for her work. Jenny has a strong background from her career as a draughts person. A visual artist for the past 30 years working in various mediums, winning a range of awards. In 2013, she was invited to represent the artists of the South West of Australia at Parliament House in Canberra. There she exhibited her latest vineyard scenes which have a 3D quality created by incorporating a unique metalwork overlay. Jenny has a diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy. Exhibiting her work in many individual and group exhibitions she is represented by Jahroc Galleries in Margaret River and her work can also be viewed at Xanadu Winery.

Alison Brown is a highly qualified and well-recognised ceramicist and glass artist working from her own studio, she has a BA in Visual Arts from Curtin University and has extensive teaching and curatorial experience. Alison has shown her work in many individual and group exhibitions and is represented in the Art gallery of WA, National and International collections and publications as well as Studio Art Gallery and Bistro Yallingup, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery UWA Perth, Art Geo Gallery Bussleton, Studio On Toby (Artist’s studio). Recently she represented the artists of the South West of WA at Parliament House in Canberra.
