Introduction:
Dear Oakdale Elementary Kindergarten Parents and Guardians – Welcome to your child’s first year in music at Oakdale! It is such an exciting time! My name is Julia Olynyk and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your child. I am looking forward to a phenomenal year! I want to take a moment to introduce myself to you. I grew up in Omaha and graduated from Westside High School. I then attended Luther College in Decorah, IA, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 vocal and instrumental education. After student teaching in New York, I returned to Omaha and began teaching in Millard Public Schools in 2010, where I earned my Master’s Degree in education through UNO’s CADRE program. I had the opportunity to join the Westside team last year and I am so excited to begin my second year here at Oakdale (tenth year of teaching overall)! When I’m not teaching students how to sing, move, and play instruments, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two little ones, Leo (3) and Dottie (1).
