PARTNERING WITH INDUSTRY MSU Denver has established relationships with many leaders in the aerospace, engineering and manufacturing industries across Colorado. We soughtand continue to seektheir insights into industry needs and their input on our proposed
facility, technologies and curriculum.
We invite you to join us as we transform student livesand Colorados economywith this industry-driven
workforce initiative.Call 303-556-8424 or visit msudenver.edu/aes for a personal glimpse into our plans to transform
Colorados aerospace, engineering and manufacturing industries.
AEROSPACE+ENGINEERING SCIENCES
Metropolitan State University of Denver is embarking on its most ambitious undertaking yetto construct an Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building and establish an Institute for Advanced
Manufacturing to train a globally competitive workforce for the state of Colorado.
As an urban, public university, Metropolitan
State University of Denver works to create
lasting community impact. We provide an
exceptional education of great value, preparing
our students to succeed and serve. MSU Denver
is the leader in educating undergraduate
Coloradans, and we enroll the highest number
of students of color among the states four-
year colleges. The University oers more than
200 degree options, including masters degrees
in accounting, teaching and social work. Most
of our more than 77,000 alumni remain in
Colorado after graduation.

We have diiculty finding qualified people. There arent any schools in the Front Range moving people into these fields. So we recruit from other parts of the country or we recruit from the guy down the street, which hurts that business. This MSU Denver program would build the infrastructure in the Front Range to support the industrys workforce needs.

MSU Denver educates Colorado students for Colorados workforce. More than 96 percent of the Universitys students are Colorado residents, and 75 percent of MSU Denver graduates stay in the state. In addition, of our recent STEM/advanced-manufacturing graduates, 23 percent were students of color.
FULFILLING A COMMUNITY NEEDThe U.S. Labor Department has heralded manufacturing as the industry that could provide one of the biggest boosts to the U.S. economy, with the potential to add hundreds of thousands of new jobs annually.
And yet, the Labor Department also reports that there are more than 500,000 manufacturing jobs unfilled in the United States. The manufacturing industry is desperate for qualified employees to fill these jobs, which often are well-paid, highly technical positions.
With the Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Initiative, Metropolitan State University of Denver has stepped up to supply the employees to meet this demand.
This is important to our state and national economies, says MSU Denver President Stephen Jordan. If this is where the workplace is going, dont we have a responsibility as educators to supply the people who can work in these industries? This initiative will have one of the single biggest impacts on this region that this institution has ever had.
ENVISIONING POSSIBILITIESMSU Denver has partnered with industry leaders to design a groundbreaking program that will revolutionize aviation, aerospace and advanced manufacturing education in Colorado by integrating the study of aviation and aerospace science; industrial design; civil, mechanical and electrical engineering technology; computer science and computer information systems; and business management.
These disciplines will collaborate in a state-of-the-art Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building, providing students with the curriculum, technology and labs necessary to give them a highly experiential, relevant education.
With the Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building and Institute for Advanced Manufacturing, MSU Denver will educate the most skilled, workforce-ready professionals available to meet the advanced manufacturing needs of the state of Colorado, particularly in the areas of aviation and aerospace.
There is a vacuum in our system right now for skilled aerospace workers. Look at the breakdown of the aerospace economy and what aerospace means to our state. Supporting MSU Denvers education initiative will immediately translate into an economic impact in our state.

The aerospace industry is looking
not just to increase its pipeline of qualified STEM students but to broaden its workforce to be more inclusive of underrepresented populations and
women. MSU Denver is incredibly well
positioned to help in that goal.
