DESCRIPTION
STEM Education Consultant, Dr. Diana Wehrell-Grabowski conducted 3 (2hour) STEM Family Science Nights for Collier County School District in October, 2013. Approximately 30 families attended each of the three sessions. Families were introduced to STEM education practices and content via inquiry-based practices. Families explored: The Engineering, Design Process, Nature of Science, Nature of Matter, and Force, Motion, and Energy Concepts. The majority of the participants were of Hispanic decent. Many of the adults spoke English as a second language, some of the adult participants spoke no English at all. Translators were available for all sessions, and a manual containing all the STEM explorations in their native language was provided to the participants.
