Welcome

HMC Connections welcome you to our annual Multiculturalism Day!

Today celebrates the rich cultural diversity that exists within our region. It is

an opportunity to promote awareness of cultural differences, to learn about

other cultures, and to encourage everyone to celebrate their own heritage.

The event aims to bring together annually the community to promote

multiculturalism and openness between cultures. HMC’s goal is to put on an

event that not only celebrates Halton’s diversity but creates an opportunity

for community members to come together – interactively – across our

diverse identities, to learn, listen, share, and grow.

We would like to thank Federal, Provincial, Regional and Local governments,

RBC Bank, MapleLodge Farms, Halton Newcomers Strategy, Oakville Fire

Department, Halton Region Police Services, Oakville Soccer Club, the Oakville

Lion’s Club and all of our staff and volunteers for helping make this day

special.

On behalf of the Halton Multicultural Council we would like to say a special

Thank You to our hard working staff members and friends who give of

themselves tirelessly the many hours it takes to make Multiculturalism Day

picnic the social success that it is. To our Volunteers who work year after year

and to the new ones who are here for 2017 we say to all of you, Thank You,

we could not do it without you.

HMC Connections welcomes you all to our Multiculturalism Day Picnic; we

wish you a most enjoyable experience and hope to see you again next year.

In the spirit of unity, diversity and respect,

Ross Bragdon Kim Jenkinson

Board President Executive Director

Would you like to become a Cultural Presenter to showcase your culture? We are always seeking people to participate in our future cultural booths exhibition. Showcase your culture by volunteering at a booth to be sure your culture is represented at different community events throughout Halton. Team up with your friends and spotlight your culture by signing up as “booth presenter”. Bring food samples, music, flags, maps, games, and souvenirs – anything that can proudly showcase your culture! Creativity is the key and sharing your culture with everyone is fun and rewarding.

This entails setting up an exhibit to display the culture and heritage of your country or origin. We are looking for uniqueness and creativity to visually show the richness of the culture.

The goal is to have everyone who visits a booth learn something new about the country/culture that is represented.

Booths are made possible only if volunteers like you step up.
