Who survived

the sinking of

the Titanic?

It is said that women and children were given preference to escape. Is it true? Learn how multivariate data analysis gets you a solid answer!

Page 2: Multivariate Data Analysis: Techniques and Software

On April 14th, 1912, at 11.40 p.m., the Titanic, sailing from Southampton to New York, struck an iceberg and started to take on water. At 2.20 am she sank; of the

2228 passengers and crew on board, only 705 survived.

With the data on Titanic passengers, logistic regression, a multivariate data analysis technique can give you answers on the probability of survival if the

passenger was female or a child. We can investigate the data to determine which of the explanatory variables like age, ticket class can be predictive of survival.

This is just one example of contexts where multivariate data analysis techniques can be relied to arrive at solid conclusions.

Multivariate data analysis techniques are widely used in all domains including Health, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Industries, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Economics, Sociology, Psychology etc by Researchers, Scientists, Analysts, Decision Makers, Health Professionals, Social Workers and by anyone

handling data involving many variables and; want to arrive on scientific solutions.

Norma School offers an intensive hands-on training programme

“Multivariate Analysis: Techniques and Software” to learn multivariate data analysis from the basics to applications

along with the most suitable software.
