Dear Business Traveler!

Service nonstop is much more than Munich Airport’s slogan; it defines a steadfast commitment to all of our passengers. 11 million travelers worldwide participated in last year’s internationally renowned Skytrax survey, in which Munich Airport was chosen Best Airport in Europe for the sixth time.

In cooperation with the airlines and other companies located at the airport, we constantly work on enhancements. Taking decisive action to address the needs of climate protection, our strategic expansion plans such as the new satellite terminal are in strict accordance with sustainable construction prin-ciples. Additionally the Airport Council International has officially certified our successful measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Business travelers take off and land daily at Munich Airport in order to conduct business with international partners. In addition to first class travel connections, we offer a complete array of business services, which are constantly expanded and improved.

This pocket-sized guide is specifically tailored to business needs and contains an abundance of information about our airport services along with tips on how to make your Munich experience a special one.

I wish you successful business negotiations, as well as a very pleasant experience at Munich Airport. I’m looking forward to seeing you again soon!

restaurant recommendations

Munich offers a full variety of cuisine from gourmet dishes to traditional Bavarian food. To list them all would go beyond the scope of this brochure. Here are three insider tips:

Thomas Kube, Head of Marketing and Traffic Support at Munich Airport recommends:

My favorite wine bar and restaurant Geisel’s Vinothek is centrally located adjacent to Munich Central Rail way Station/Hauptbahnhof (Hbf). Geisel’s offers a cozy atmosphere, deli-cious food and a well-thoughtout range of excellent wines (try German white wines from

Franconia and Palatinate) at reasonable prices. Advanced reservations are recommended.Schützenstraße 11, 80335 Munich, phone: +49 89 55 13 71 40

Fine food and wine combined with a stunning view can also be found in the Glockenspiel Café on the 5th floor at the famous Marienplatz. Just reserve a table next to the windows and enjoy both, the gastronomic and visual highlights like the Town Hall, the Frauenkirche, the Theatiner Church and much more.Marienplatz 28, 80331 Munich, phone: +49 89 26 42 56

Last but not least, the well-known Hofbräuhaus is frequented also by locals like me. Especially in summer a Bavarian lunch or dinner on the outdoor terrace (2nd floor) is a must.Platzl 9, 80331 Munich, phone: +49 89 29 01 36 0

Most regional and long distance trains depart from Munich Central Railway Station/München Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) and can be reached from Munich Airport via S1 or S8 rapid-transit rail lines (S-Bahn). The fastest and most comfortable train is the high-speed Intercity-Express (ICE). Business Etiquette

Different countries, different customs. The following tips will help you to understand the German business culture better.

Meetings & Negotiations

German management style is product- and quality-oriented. Business meetings are characterized by thorough definitions of positions aimed at problem solving and consensus building. Even initial meetings are used to directly address challenges and subsequently discuss them in detail. Therefore, it is helpful to have plenty of data and other empirical evidence to support proposals and arguments. Germans expect precise results at the end of every meeting.Punctuality is especially important in Germany. In case of a delay, it is necessary to notify the business partner in advance.

Invitations and Conversation The person who extends an invitation is the person who pays. A small gift as a sign of good manners and respect is polite, especially when contacts are made for the first time.Good topics include sports, travel, current events, work and professions. Subjects like World War II and personal ques-tions including salary and marital status should be avoided. Work and family life are strictly separated in Germany.

TimingDue to summer vacation, business meetings are difficult to arrange in July and August. Many companies are also closed for festival periods, e.g. between Christmas and New Year. In order to better plan your business trip, check: www.holidays-info.com
