There is a trail for children with games, information stations and gaming stations along with family activities, rowing boat and kayak hire, bathing and fishing opportunities. The “von Tangen” fish bar serves up tasty dishes from the sea, accompanied by some of the best sea views in Bergen.

DET HANSEATISKE MUSEUM OG SCHØTSTUENE

I et av de eldste og best bevarte trehusene på Bryggen i Bergen kan du oppleve det eneste autentiske hanseatiske museum i verden. Her får du se et unikt bygg fra 1704 med original innredning fra hanseatisk tid. Kom og hør historien om kjøpmenn og handel på Bryggen fra 1300–1900.

At Bryggen in Bergen you will find the only authentic Hanseatic museum in the world. The unique building dates from 1704 and boasts the original interiors from the Hanseatic era. Come hear about 400 years of history, trade and merchants at Bryggen.

Life by the sea

KYSTMUSEET I ØYGARDENLengst vest mot storhavet ligg Kystmuseet i Øygarden. Gjennom utstillingar og filmar får du eit innblikk i korleis kystfolket har levd og nytta naturen opp gjennom tidene – frå fangstfolk til fiskarbonde, frå torvbruk til olje og gass. Opplev naturen og historia frå sykkelsete, robåt og kano, eller bli med RIB-båten ut til Visningssenteret for lakseoppdrett. På museet sin kafé Lunnane finn du litt å bite i, ro og fred.

THE COASTAL MUSEUM IN ØYGARDEN

To the west facing the ocean you will find the Coastal Museum in Øygarden. Exhibitions and films give visitors an insight into how people on the coast have lived and worked through the ages – from hunting to fishing and farming, from peat cutting to oil and gas. Explore the landscape and its history by bike, rowing boat or canoe, or board the RIB for a trip to the Øygarden Salmon Farm. In the museum café you can enjoy a bite to eat in tranquil surroundings.

FJELL FESTNINGHer kan du gå 14 m ned i Kanonbrønnen og få omvising i underjordiske gangar med spennande utstillingar. Lær om trippelkanonen «Donner Felix», okkupasjonen og dei russiske krigsfangane. Festninga vart bygd som del av Atlanterhavsvollen i 1942–1945 av den tyske okkupasjonsmakta, for å sikre innseglinga til Bergen. Fjell festning ligg i eit populært turområde og Kafé Kanontårnet er ein attraksjon i seg sjølv.

FJELL FORTRESSDescend 14 metres into the cannon well for a guided tour of the underground tunnels and a range of fascinating exhibitions. Learn about the triple-barrelled cannon “Donner Felix”, the wartime occupation and the Russian prisoners of war. The fortress was built as part of the Atlantic Wall in 1942–1945 by the German occupying forces to protect the seaward approach to Bergen. Fjell Fortress is located in a popular recreation area, and the café Kanontårnet is a popular destination for the whole family.

NORDSJØFARTMUSEET I TELAVÅG

På Nordsjøfartmuseet i Telavåg kan du høyre om den sterke historia som utspela seg i bygda under 2. verds-krigen. Den norske motstandsrørsla var avhengig av utstyr og agentar som vart frakta over Nordsjøen frå Storbritannia. Folk i Telavåg hadde ei sentral rolle i dette motstandsarbeidet. I 1942 vart det oppdaga av Gestapo, noko som fekk dramatiske følgjer for bygda.

THE NORTH SEA TRAFFIC MUSEUM

The North Sea Traffic Museum in Telavåg retells the powerful story that unfolded in the village during WWII. The Norwegian resistance was reliant on equipment and agents being shipped across the North Sea from Britain. The people of Telavåg played a key role in this resistance effort. In 1942 they were exposed by the Gestapo, with dramatic consequences for the village and its residents.

HERDLA MUSEUMHeilt ytst på Askøy ligg moreneøya Herdla. Det opne og tilgjengelege landskapet gjer øya til eit flott turmål. Med museet som utgangspunkt kan du få sett både eit jagarfly frå 2. verdskrigen og eit komplett torpedobatteri frå den kalde krigen.

HERDLA MUSEUMAt the very tip of the Askøy archipelago lies the moraine island of Herdla. The open and easily accessible landscape makes the island a perfect destination for various outings, suitable for everyone. Starting at the local museum, you will be able to see a WWII fighter plane and a complete torpedo battery from the Cold War.

Geriljabasen i Masfjordfjella

Second world war guerrilla base

BJØRN WEST-MUSEETMuseet har namnet sitt etter ein geriljabase som vart etablert i fjella i Masfjorden dei siste seks månadene av 2. verdskrigen. I planane til dei allierte skulle basen operera som reserve bak dei tyske linjene i tilfelle alliert invasjon, og også fungere som tilfluktstad for norske ungdomar som stod i fare for å verte mobilisert til kamp på tysk side. På slutten av krigen hadde gruppa 259 soldatar. Historia om Bjørn West er ein interessant og viktig del av norsk krigshistorie. Museet har ei flott samling våpen og gjenstandar, og gir eit godt innblikk i dei vanskelige forholda gruppa opererte under.

THE BJØRN WEST MUSEUMThe museum owes its name to a Norwegian guerrilla group which had its headquarters in the hills around Matre at the end of the second world war, while Norway was occupied by the Germans. The group was to operate behind German lines in event of an allied invasion. At the end of the war, the group numbered 259 soldiers. The story of Bjørn West is an interesting, dramatic and exciting piece of Norway’s war history which the museum preserves and conveys. It has a fine collection of authentic weapons and artillery and gives an impression of the extreme conditions under which the soldiers lived and operated.
