Samuel Bayer

Samuel Bayer tends to make music videos for the rock genre, which is the genre of music I listen to the most; and is a the genre I would like to create for my own music video. Bayer has a degree in Fine Arts and created Award Winning commercials for CocaCola, Nike and Chrysler and then moved onto directing music videos for Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, My Chemical Romance and Green day. Bayer has consistently worked with Green day on several of their videos and with My Chemical Romance twice. Bayer was selected by New Line Cinema to direct the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.

Bayer’s signature style seems to be quite gritty and dark (grunge) which is a similar style I would like to use for my own music video; as I think it shows the conventions of the rock genre well.

Changing Style

Although Bayer primarily works within the rock genre, he did direct Angels – Robbie Williams but used a similar dark colour scheme.
