locations to learn about places your family has never been before. Make it an adventure for your children and spend quali-ty time with them as you would on any other family vacation. Settling In Upon reaching their new home, children may be nervous and apprehen-sive in meeting new peo-ple. Ask them what kinds of activities they would like to be a part of and sign them up for after-school activities and play dates. If you feel your child needs additional help dealing with the stress of moving, the Department of Defense's Military & Family Life Consultant (MFLC) Program has a Children's Support Pro-gram for all services . Susan Brayden is the MFLC for KES and would welcome the opportunity to support your child and family if you experiencing a PCS move in the future. You can contact her di-rectly at: 01522-3662418. This article can be found in its entirety at: http://www.military.com/money/pcs-dity-move/easing-childrens-stress-during-pcs-season.html
For most kids, the end of the school year means the start of summer vacation and countless weeks playing outdoors, swimming or hav-ing other fun in the sun. For many military families, how-ever, summer is the time for relocating to a new commu-nity once duty station orders have arrived.
Permanent change of sta-tion (PCS) transitions, which usually fall between June and August, involve saying
goodbye to close friends and often moving to an unfamiliar place. Such changes can cause stress not only for
parents – but for children as
well. Following the tips below can help remove some of the mental pressures of moving and better enable your kids to enjoy their summer. Open Communication
Tell your kids you under-stand that moves are diffi-cult and that it's okay to be sad and miss their friends. Listen to their concerns and comfort them with fun activi-ties such as creating an online scrapbook of places they would like to explore in
their new location. Before moving, make sure to visit their favorite local places with close friends. Being honest and open with your kids assures them that you are listening and care.
Advance Support Network
Setting up a support net-work at your new location prior to leaving can help both you and your child. Military OneSource has ample infor-mation on moving to a new community, finding health care providers, military housing and more. Military Kids Connect and Military Youth on the Move are two helpful online resources for children to explore on their own. Family Packing Provide each member of the family with certain roles during the packing and moving process. When feel-ing hassled, try to stay calm because kids can sense their parents' stress and may act out. Sesame Street's Families Near and Far has some useful mov-ing tips. Grand Adventure If time and resources per-mit, make the actual move a family vacation. Travel by car and stop in different

SUICIDE PREVENTION ALERT! The rise of a social media ‘game’ challenge called BLUE WHALE encourages teenagers to take their own lives. Over 130 teenagers have suicided, after playing the game in Russia and cases in Britain and Brazil are surfacing. Here’s how it works:
*Blue Whale is on various Social Media Platforms such as Facebook and Instagram
*Potential victims are trolled on social media and lured in by an ‘Administrator’ or ‘Curator’
*Target Group is teenagers 10 to 14 years of age
*Victims are encouraged to take part in a 50 day challenge
*Participants are assigned one task per day, with the last task on day 50 being to suicide
*Tasks include: cutting words and a whale on legs and/or wrists with a razor or knife; to search for a means of suicide (usually high buildings or trains). The last 10 days they are to wake up at odd hours or early morning around 4:20 am and to contemplate death continually. This is accompanied by instructing them to watch hours of horror movies. In other words, they create sleep deprivation (a suicide at risk factor) and de-sensitization to violence in the victims.
*Teenagers are also psychologically manipulated over the 50 day period by telling the girls they are fat, telling the boys they are losers, and that they are among the chosen for another world. They work to convince the teens that the ‘best things in life start with an S – semiya (Russian for family), Saturday, Sex and Suicide’.
*Those teenagers who start to get ‘cold feet’ and want out of the game receive threats; often that their parents will be killed if they do not carry out the self-harm and ultimate suicide.
It is believed that the name ‘Blue Whale’ was chosen due to them being known for beaching themselves; resulting in death.
