Our teachers are very excited as they plan and discuss the best experiences for your children, continuing to make MSPS the best place to be. We have some exciting (and sad at the same time) news about staffing. We have some new teachers starting next term and we are excited for them to join our fantastic team here at MSPS. Congratulations to Mr Zac Bayliss who will be moving to Muswellbrook Public School. Welcome Miss Brooke Beith who will be taking 3/4 Yellow and is looking forward to joining our team. Welcome Miss Bethany Ellis who is starting on Miss Marshall’s class, as Miss Marshall will be leaving in Term 2 to start a family. Miss Molly Rutherford has been offered a permanent position in Tamworth and will be starting her new job next Term and we welcome Mrs Joanne Herd to the class. MSPS farewell these teachers warmly who are moving on for various reasons. They are going to be missed, not only by their class, but their student’s families and colleagues too. Good luck in your future! Do not be strangers to your Muswellbrook South family! Our Cross Country was run today, as well as the K to 2 fun run! It was a great day. Everyone had fun whilst raising some funds for Fibromyalgia Syndrome awareness. Thank you to Mr Adams and Mrs Felan for organising! Holidays are almost here! (11 weeks is a long term, even for the kids!). Our staff would like to wish you all a fantastic holiday with your children. We have witnessed happiness and joy, laughed with humour and excitement, worked hard, discussed, planned, created meaningful experiences, celebrated and acknowledged children’s work and shared this all with you. Looking forward to next Term, but first things first….HOLIDAYS! (TAG….your turn!) Tara Anderson Deputy Principal Anzac Day Town March Muswellbrook South Public School students are invited to join staff members in participating in the Muswellbrook Shire Council Anzac Day Town March and Service on Thursday 25th April 2019 commencing at 10am. Students are required to assemble at 9.30am in Simpson Park and be in full school uniform. These students have been SAFE, RESPECTFUL & RESPONSIBLE by following all six whole school PBL Expectations. MSPS are proud of your efforts! K-2 Attendance Hero Each week, the K-2 classes like to acknowledge those students who come to school each day, ready to learn, by awarding two students as ‘Attendance Heroes’. Congratulations to Riley Jeans who successfully guessed ‘121’ in the P&C Easter Egg guessing competition. Thank you very much to everyone who supported the Easter Raffle and guessing competition. Your support is very much appreciated.

On Wednesday 27th March Mitchell M and Bailey C competed in the Hunter Rugby League trials at Raymond Terrace. Congratulations to both of the boys who did a fantastic job making it to this level of competition. Mitchell was successful in gaining selection in the possible and

probable’s team that are trialling again at Raymond Terrace today. We wish Mitch the best of luck.

Last Thursday, 4th April 2019, Sophie E and Teegan E competed with the Upper Hunter Zone PSSA team at the Hunter region trials for girls’ soccer. The girls tried her best and said it was a great experience playing at that level. Well done girls!

Last Sunday 7th April 2019, Thomas C and Hayden E of Year 6 participated in the Kurri Coalface Pedal Charity Mountain Bike Ride. Marcus P was due to participate however was sick on the day so luckily Hayden could fill in at the last minute and they performed outstandingly.

The event raises money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and was held at the new course through the Richmond Vale Railways and surrounding bushland at Kurri Kurri. The boy’s competed in 10km 'School Challenge ' event that is open to Year 5 and 6 students. They placed 1st

overall, receiving a trophy and a donation which will be made to the school next Term. Congratulations boys on a fantastic effort!

Good luck to our senior girl’s league tag team who are participating in the Debbie Carroll Shield at Denman on Wednesday 1st May (Week 1 Term 2 after the April holidays). Try hard girls and do MSPS proud! Mr Adams – PE Teacher

PJ says – “Please have a safe and enjoyable holiday with your family. Enjoy not having an alarm clock, packing lunches and getting kids to school. Have lots of ‘PJ’ days, lollies for breakfast and late nights. Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday 30th April.”

MSPS Band We currently have several positions available in the school band for 2019. Music lessons are run during school time by the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music. Band is held before school on a Thursday morning each week as well as some Thursday afternoons during the afternoon session. We have Trumpets, Clarinets, Saxophones and flutes for hire $35 per term. We have places for Trumpet, Saxophone, Flute, and Clarinet. Some lesson scholarships are available.
