Dear Parents,

As part of the course of study for Social Studies, all fifth graders are required to prepare a research project on one of the fifty states. The State Project is due on Thursday, April12, 2018. The Presentation walk-through is scheduled for Friday, April 20, 2018 from 12:15-1:15. Attached to this note is an outline designed to help your child prepare his/her project. Encyclopedias and books are available in the school library, however, materials from other sources such as the town library and Internet are also recommended.

Project elements may be typed or hand written in clear, easy to read text. Time will not be available at school for typing papers due to our limited access to computer lab time. (You may type text for the Information Workbook and cut and paste it into the workbook.)

The state report must have the following elements to be considered complete:

1. All pages in the Information Workbook completed 2. Display project-state float for the state walk-through 3. Illustrations must be drawn and colored neatly on plain white paper.

Photographs, photocopies, and computer images are acceptable, however will not receive as high of a score as original artwork does.

4. Alphabetized Bibliography: All resources (books, magazines, encyclopedias, etc.) must be included in with this project. The Bibliography cannot consist solely of Internet resources.

5. Electronic Presentation that contains at least 10 slides
