Research in Progress

Mindfulness and Its Connection with Environmental/Ecological Studies. Collaborating with Dr. Sara Sage and Jeff Nixa, we are investigating current research on contemplative

practices and designing a one-day workshop for ED2: Earth Day Every Day participants (teacher leaders). The results of the one-day workshop will be considered in light of the research with possibly a manuscript emerging.

ED2: Earth Day Every Day – Mathematics and Science Partnership with SBCSC. Collaborating with Dr. Judy Lewandowski on the analysis of data obtained through surveys

administered to attending teachers and students. Surveys will be administered to

non-attending teachers and students as the data sets become available. I-STEP and ECA data will also be collected and analyzed in a collaborative context.

Place-Based Science Education and the Amazon Rainforest. In collaboration with two faculty

members associated with the University of Northern Colorado and their Pre-Service

Students who attended the summer 2015 Amazon Rainforest, surveys and small

focus groups are used to collect data related to the impact and transferability of

scientific skills acquired in a place – in this instance, the Rainforest.
