The mission of Phelps’ Academy of Engineering is to provide students access to intellectually challenging studies in engineering fields that emphasize the higher levels of mathematics, science, technology, critical thinking, literacy and problem solving needed to be successful in obtaining a postsecondary degree, professional certification and career in any engineering field.

As a member of the National Academy Foundation network, our Academy is part of a national movement where students can learn, achieve and advance as a professional along a chosen career path. • Aerospace Engineers

• Agricultural Engineers• Engineering Technologists• Civil Engineers• Chemical Engineers• Communication Engineers• Mechanical Engineers• Engineering Physicists• Project Engineers • Electro-mechanical Technicians• Surveyors• Biomedical Engineers• Electrical Engineers

According to a study released by the Brookings Institute in July 2014, “More than 55 percent of the job postings [in the Washington area] during the first quarter of 2013 required STEM skills. Our region ranks second in the country for the share of its STEM jobs requiring a bachelor’s degree.”

Students explore a range of career opportunities in high-wage, high-demand careers in Engineering. Starting salaries for careers requiring an Associate’s degree range from the low $40s to the low $60s. Careers requiring a Bachelor’s range from the mid $60s to $100K+.
