Real Median Wage: Is the median (middle number) of all wages. It helps prevent the outliers (incredibly wealthy or poor) from skewing the number.

FTAA Treaty: FTAA or the Free Trade Area of the Americas was a proposed treaty under the George W. Bush Administration that would have expanded the North American free trade zone to most of the Central and South American countries.

Labor Day: Labor Day is a day set aside to pay tribute to workingmen and women. It has been celebrated as a national holiday in the United States and Canada since 1894.

WTO: The WTO or World Trade Organization is an international organization that supervises international trade. The WTO has typically had strong support for free trade agreements (no tariffs) between nations.

• Right to work: States that have laws that make joining a union a personal choice (open shops). In these states, there are very few workers in unions.

• Free bargaining: States that allow unions to require all employees in certain industries to join. In these states, there are many more workers in unions.
