Another year ... and another outstanding season of short-track racing at NASCAR Home Tracks, which is what we’ve all come to expect – with good reason.

NASCAR racing is like no other sport. But let’s take it a step further. NASCAR Home Tracks – over 100 of them – are like no other form of racing.

NASCAR Home Tracks personify all that is great about our sport – the strong sense of community, the always-fierce competition and the collective spirit of cooperation.

Regarding that community – our community – we’re talking about people from varied regions and backgrounds. The United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe are all part of NASCAR Home Tracks, giving our sport a truly multi-cultural face and appeal.

As we’ve said many times, NASCAR Home Tracks form the foundation of our sport. They are a link to the past – and a portal to the future. The following pages will give you a feel for that foundation.

On behalf of the France Family and everyone at NASCAR, welcome.

LOCAL RACING

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) provides a grassroots foundation for NASCAR competition at more than 50 tracks throughout North America.

There have been 22 different champions crowned since the inaugural season in 1982.

More than 15,000 licensed members compete in the NWAAS annually.

Division I drivers compete for local Track Championships, State and Provincial Championships, and a National Championship in the series, as well as being ranked nationally in the Top 500.

The National Champion is the competitor who accumulates the highest total of NASCAR points in his/her 18 best finishes. Drivers are able to compete at any NASCAR-Sanctioned facility in North America.

NASCAR Division II-IV drivers compete for a National Championship. The top 100 drivers in each division are recognized.

The competition age limit in the NWAAS is 14 years old.

Current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, and Jamie McMurray are all former drivers in the NWAAS.

NASCAR WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIESThe NASCAR Whelen All-American Series provides season-long NASCAR action to local fans who just can’t get enough live racing. It’s all about a sense of community, where friends, neighbors and competitors get together to celebrate the sport they love.

NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOURModified cars are NASCAR’s oldest division of racecars. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) traces its roots back to the very first NASCAR race held in Daytona Beach, FL in 1948.

REGIONAL SERIES

The modern day NWMT has maintained a loyal and passionate fan base since its first season of competition in 1985, and annually competes in front of packed grandstands at historic short tracks throughout the northeastern United States.

With wide tires, a low center of gravity and exceptional maneuverability, modifieds produce an exciting brand of racing that appeals to both competitors and fans.

Whelen Engineering has committed to a long term partnership as the series sponsor for both the NWMT and the NWSMT.

The NWMT schedule features companion events with NASCAR’s national series at Bristol Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The tour has produced seven different champions in the last eight seasons: Mike Stefanik (2006), Donny Lia (2007 & 2009), Ted Christopher (2008), Bobby Santos (2010), Ron Silk (2011), Doug Coby (2012), Ryan Preece (2013).

In 2012 nine-time NASCAR Modified Champion Richie Evans became the first individual not primarily associated with the Sprint Cup Series to be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

NWMT champions like Jeff Fuller, Donny Lia, Mike McLaughlin, Jimmy Spencer and Mike Stefanik rose to success in the upper levels of NASCAR racing, as did other tour standouts such as Brett Bodine, Ken Bouchard and Steve Park.

NASCAR WHELEN SOUTHERN MODIFIED TOURThe NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour (NWSMT) is a sister tour to the NWMT. These fenderless racecars offer a unique style of racing for fans in the southeastern U.S. This tour maintains a connection to the roots of NASCAR with fast, close racing.

REGIONAL SERIES

The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour (NWSMT) was established in 2005.

The NWSMT travels to historic racing venues throughout the southeastern United States.

The schedule also features companion events with NASCAR’s national series at Bristol Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The NWMT and NWSMT schedules annually include one combination event in which the two tours compete head-to-head.

A 15-year-old minimum age requirement has aided in the growth of both the NWMT and the NWSMT.

In the first nine years of NWSMT competition, George Brunnhoelzl has won four championships (2009, 2011-2013) and Junior Miller has won two. Brian Loftin, L.W. Miller and Burt Myers have each won one title.

Both tours operate by the same rule book. The cars feature 625 horsepower (NASCAR-approved SPEC Engine is optional), and have an estimated top speed of 150 mph. These cars weigh 2,645 pounds (including driver), with a standard height of 40 inches, a 107 inch wheel base and run on Hoosier Tires.

NASCAR approved car models include Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota (1988-2011).

NASCAR K&N PRO SERIESMany drivers who advance to the regional level of NASCAR compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series (NKNPS), which is comprised of two divisions in the east and west regions. These regional series compete on a variety of tracks, while providing special events to local fans.

REGIONAL SERIES

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series, with East and West divisions, is the sanctioning body’s top developmental touring series.

The NKNPS-West has been in competition since 1954 and has carried a diverse schedule of ovals and road courses across the Western United States.

The NKNPS-East has competed at historic short tracks and intermediate speedways up and down the Eastern United States since its inception in 1987. The two series also compete head-to-head in two annual combination events at Iowa Speedway.

Both NKNPS East and West feature companion events with NASCAR's national series.

The NKNPS receives national television exposure with tape-delayed broadcasts on FOX Sports 1.

The 15-year-old minimum competition age has sparked an influx of talented young newcomers into the series. Truly making these series the proving ground for “Tomorrows Stars Today”.

Drivers who have competed in the NKNPS that have graduated to the top levels of NASCAR racing include: Trevor Bayne, Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Kevin Harvick, Ron Hornaday, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Martin, Truex Jr., Ryan Truex and Darrell Wallace Jr.

NASCAR K&N PRO SERIESThe NASCAR K&N Pro Series is where loyal fans experience the best in regional racing and drivers hone their skills against other top drivers. NKNPS drivers compete in this series for national recognition; it serves as a doorstep to realizing their dreams of reaching a national NASCAR series.

REGIONAL SERIES

K&N Engineering has committed to a long term partnership as the series sponsor.

The NKNPS has been a proving ground for NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity effort in recent years, with minority and female drivers getting a shot with some of the best teams on both coasts.

Turner-Scott Motorsports, Rev Racing, and Hattori Racing Enterprises all field teams in the NKNPS-East while Bill McAnally Racing, Sunrise Motorsports and Gene Price Motorsports have annually produced title contenders in the NKNPS-West.

Both series operate by the same rule book. The template-bodied cars, the majority of which are powered by the optional NASCAR-approved SPEC Engine produced by Robert Yates Racing, generate 625 horsepower. They weigh 3,250 pounds (110-inch wheel base) or 3,300 (105-inch wheel base), run on Goodyear Tires and have an estimated top speed of 170 mph.

ENvIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTAs one of the most recognized and influential sports organizations in North America, NASCAR takes its responsibility to our environment very seriously. NASCAR Green was established as a broad, industry-wide initiative to measurably enhance our conservation of the environment and adopt green technologies, while helping our fans, teams, tracks and sponsors find ways to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into their everyday lives.

One on-track initiative is the NASCAR Green Clean Air Program delivered by UPS. As the largest tree-planting program in sports, NASCAR and UPS supply 90 trees to each NASCAR Sprint Cup market with the support of The Arbor Day Foundation. Another 6,000 trees are planted in the Blackwater River State Park totaling over 8,000 trees planted as part of this program annually.
