Frida Kahlo This power point presentation views a

cultural part of the nation of Mexico. In particular, this slide focuses on the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

Frida Kahlo lived from 1907-1954. She was born and died close to Mexico City.

When Frida was a young girl, she got polio which made her right leg permanently thinner than her left.

Frida was exposed to the artist Diego Rivera when she was a young girl because he was commissioned to do a mural at her grammar school.

This painting is of the people on the bus during Frida’s horrible accident. She is pictured at the far right.

The Accident When Frida was riding a

bus in 1925 she got into a huge accident. She fractured her ribs, pelvis, and spinal column.

Unbelievably, Fridamanaged to heal from this accident, although she had horrible pain because of it for the rest of her life.

Her Marriage Frida Kahlo married the world-

famous painter, Diego Rivera in 1929.

Frida was a very flirtatious girl and easily attracted Rivera because of her confidence, and uniquely Mexican artwork.

Sadly, Frida’s husband was very unfaithful throughout the entire marriage. Soon, Frida began to be unfaithful to her spouse as well.

Frida and Diego were very active Communists who believed in their cause and fought for their ideals through their amazing artwork.

Her miscarriages and death Frida had multiple

miscarriages throughout her entire life.

It pained her greatly to know that she could never carry a baby to term.

This painting shows the horrible pain and tragedy Frida experienced in her life because of these miscarriages.

Frida died in what some may have considered mysterious circumstances in July of 1954.

Today, she is remembered throughout the world for her amazing art, fascinating life, and empowering spirit.
