Note: The National CDFI Directory was updated in October 2019 and now provides contact information for 510 CDFIs. The text and map below capture information from the directory’s original publication in July 2019.

The 2019 National Directory of Community Development Financial Institutions (National CDFI Directory) contains contact information for 492 CDFIs located in the continental United States, Alaska, Guam, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. For reference, there are 1,062 CDFIs nationwide that are certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s CDFI Fund, so the organizations in the National CDFI Directory represent approximately 46 percent of CDFIs.

All contact information contained in the National CDFI Directory was provided by CDFIs that responded to the Federal Reserve’s 2019 CDFI Survey, which was fielded nationwide from April through June 2019. The national CDFI Survey grew out of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond’s biennial Survey of CDFIs in the Southeast, and the pilot 2019 survey was a partnership of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks, along with the CDFI Fund, Inclusiv, NeighborWorks America, Opportunity Finance Network and First Nations Oweesta Corporation.1

In addition to contact information, the National CDFI Directory indicates the type(s) of organization for each entry. CDFIs can be structured as more than one type of entity, so entries may have one or more of the following types listed:

Cooperativa: Cooperativas are community development finance entities unique to Puerto Rico that operate as financial co-ops to offer more inclusive financial products and services.

All entries in the National CDFI Directory are self-reported and have only been edited for clarity and consistency. All information is current as of June 2019. No CDFIs in Kansas or Wyoming responded to the 2019 CDFI Survey, and no respondent CDFIs in Utah consented to have their contact information in the National CDFI Directory. As such, these states are not represented in the directory.

The CDFI Fund publishes a current list of certified CDFIs that includes each organization’s address and website. To access that information, please visit the CDFI Fund’s CDFI Certification page.
