L I M I T E D E D I T I O N P R I N T S
Thanks for considering a Natural Art Images Limited Edition Print. My Limited Edition Prints are truly limited – the edition length is normally 25 images or less and each print is offered in only one size and on only one media type. To ensure quality control, I personally print and inspect each of the Limited Edition Prints. Only those with the correct colour balance and without flaws receive a numbered and signed label of authenticity.
Media. Each Limited Edition Print is offered as either an Archival Print with Canvas Transfer or as an Archival Print on PremierArt Canvas (printed directly on water resistant canvas). Canvas Transfers inherit the fine texture of the canvas yet retain all the detail of the original image. The Canvas Transfer process is labour-intensive and performed by hand. Canvas Transfer prints have an attractive lustre and are both highly durable and stain resistant.
Those Limited Edition Prints that are printed directly on PremierArt water resistant canvas retain only slight less detail than Canvas Transfers but possess a more pronounced texture. The final finish has a slightly less reflective and more matte-like lustre than the Canvas Transfer prints.
All Limited Edition Prints are mounted on stretcher bars and are ready to hang on your wall. The mounted prints may, of course, be framed to suit your taste and style.
Print Longevity. All Limited Edition Prints are printed using either high quality ultrachrome inks or archival inks. Minimum lifespan is in excess of seventy-five years.
Print Series. All Limited Edition Prints fall into one of two series. The Wildlife Art Series consists of prints of North American mammals and birds. The subjects vary from rare and endangered through to those that are reasonably commonplace. All share two things. All were photographed while roaming freely in their natural environment (none were photographed in zoos or game farms). And, all are united by their inherent natural beauty.
The Natural Art Series consists of prints of subjects that are not normally considered wildlife (such as insects, flowers, or scenery). The common thread in these subjects is simply that I was lucky enough to expose the art that is inherent in all of nature.
Conservation Program. Ten percent of the selling price of each print is donated to the non-profit environmental organization most appropriate to the welfare of the subject. A complete list of the conservation organizations assisted by my photography may be found on my website – www.naturalart.ca.

Support of selected effective and efficient conservation organizations is a major focus of my photography. Natural Art Images directly supports conservation in three ways: through direct donation of a portion of the selling price of each Limited Edition Print; through donation of Limited Edition Prints to fund-raising activities (such as silent auctions) of conservation groups, and by supplying images to conservation groups for use in marketing materials. Brad Hill has been photographing the natural world for over a quarter century. His original training as a biologist (B. Sc. Environmental Biology; M. Sc. Behavioural Ecology) provides him with a deep understanding of his chosen subject matter. His compelling images are both technically superb and visually stunning. His photographic goal is to show the unique character and personality of his subjects while unveiling the natural art that each organism inherently possesses.
Brad’s images are of unrestrained subjects in their natural setting – none are of captive animals in game farms or zoos. While both the difficulty and challenge of photographing free-ranging wildlife in their natural habitat are immense, the end result is unmistakable. His award-winning images have been published in both national and international publications.
In 2005 Brad began offering short-run Limited Edition Prints of a selection of his favourite images.
C AMER AS, COMPUTERS, AND PHILOSOPHY
Cameras. Brad uses Nikon film and digital SLR cameras for all his work. The collection of images currrently in the Limited Edition Print collection were all captured digitally using one of the following digital SLRs: Nikon D2H, Nikon D2X, Nikon D2Xs, Nikon D200, Nikon D300, and Nikon D3. To maximize quality, all were captured as RAW images.
Computers. All RAW digital images were converted to 16-bit TIFF images on a Macintosh computer using Phase One’s Capture One Pro. Tonal adjustment, colour correction and sharp-ening were performed using Adobe Photoshop.
Philosophy: Digital Correction vs. Digital Manipulation. No photograph, whether captured on film or digitally, has ever captured nature exactly as perceived by the human eye. Brad chooses to shoot digitally the majority of the time because it places creative control of the image more squarely in the hands of the photographer. Additionally, digital photography now allows the photographer to produce prints with a tonal range closer to that which is perceived by the human eye and beyond that of most film. Using a computer, Brad adjusts the tonal range and colour balance to more accurately reflect what he was seeing when shooting the image (using the only tool possible – his memory), but he does not alter backgrounds, add or remove objects, or perform what are commonly thought of as “digital manipulations.” His goal in correcting the image is simply to overcome the limitations of the recording device (i.e., the camera!).
