The theatre can cater for up to 4 wheel chairs. Access from Stage to Auditorium The Nautilus Theatre has access from the auditorium to the stage via steps on both Prompt and OP sides, with side rails for safety. Orchestra Pit There is no orchestra pit in the Nautilus Theatre, however the Pro-Stage demountable front section area of 4.0m x 11.0m can be removed if required to provide an orchestra pit, at additional cost. Media Room The Media Room is located off the auditorium / stage. This room can be used for VIP interval and post show functions, rehearsal area or additional storage / dressing room space. The Media room is included as part of the venue hire but please advise if it is to be utilized. Screwing into surface is only permitted subject to authorisation from Technical Director. Stage cross-over behind back Cyc wall. The stage has a maximum load rating of 1 Tonne. Rigging Points The Nautilus Theatre has limited rigging points on stage. Details can be obtained by contacting the venue. Access Equipment Electrical EWP – Elevated Work Platform - JLG 20MVL Max reach 7.0m to assist in rigging and focusing equipment above the stage.

NB: EWP license is required for operation. EWP does not operate if surface is uneven. DRESSING ROOMS The Nautilus Theatre has two large dressing rooms, which can accommodate up to 10 people. Both have easy access to showers and toilets.

Green Room The Nautilus Theatre’s Green Room is accessible either via Washington Street or direct through the Theatre Auditorium. Tea/ Coffee making facilities are provided. Wardrobe Facilities Both the theatre’s dressing rooms have hanging space provided. There are no laundry facilities located at the theatre; however there is a Laundromat close by. Domestic iron and ironing board available. ACCESS Reception / Box Office Entry via Tasman Tce, during office hours. All other access to be pre-arranged with venue. Loading Bay Truck access off Washington Street at the back of the theatre (note this is a one way street). Truck is able to reverse into the loading dock. Trailers longer than 9m are to be left parked on the street. Council parking approval must be sought. Loading bay floor at stage height. Door dimension: 2.51m high x 3.9m wide Car Parking There is ample car parking available on the street or in car park behind the theatre via Washington Street. Security The Nautilus Theatre does not accept responsibility for valuables, including computers and musical instruments brought into the venue. Wallets, purses and jewellery should be securely stored. Warning Bell System Warning bell system to foyer and public areas controlled by front of house manager. THEATRE USAGE GUIDELINES

Nautilus Theatre “Standard Rig” describes the standard configuration for the theatre’s Lighting and Sound equipment at the commencement of a hire period. This includes the lighting rig standard colours (red, amber and blue); stage clean, clear and tidy. The hirer is responsible for the return to Standard Rig at the conclusion of their production if changes are made. The theatre must be informed in writing at least 2 weeks prior to bump in of any change you wish to make to the standard rig

Alterations to the structure and fittings of the theatre are prohibited (including painting and drilling holes into the stage floor) without prior approval. No painting of scenery or equipment is permitted on stage.

Lighting and sound desks to be operated by NAC staff or persons approved by NAC by prior arrangement only. The Public Health Authority has set a maximum sound level of 105 decibels, which the NAC is obligated to enforce.

The use of pyrotechnics, smoke machines or naked flames (other than dry ice), will only be permitted with the appropriate licenses. No flammable liquids or explosive material may be brought into the premises.

All rigging of scenery, lighting etc. must comply with Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare regulations, and Department of Industrial Relations Regulations. NAC may refuse the use of any scenery, lighting sound or other equipment.

Smoking in the theatre is prohibited other than onstage as part of the performance by prior arrangement. No alcohol shall be brought into the premises, other than by prior arrangement. No foodstuffs or liquids may be taken onto the stage, other than as part of the performance by prior arrangement.

Corridors surrounding the stag must be kept totally clear of all props and scenery at all times. All performers & backstage crew are to enter the theatre via the stage door.

The theatre is fitted with JLG model 20MVL elevated work platform to assist in

rigging and focusing equipment above the stage. The platform will elevate to 7.0m above stage level. People wishing to use this must produce their yellow Operator Training card as issued by the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia as proof of training, before commencing work.
