Customer Registration ID (CRID)

• The Customer Registration ID (CRID) is a numeric (15-digit maximum)USPS identifier to uniquely identify a USPS customer at a businesslocation address

• A CRID is assigned to a business account when a user registers throughthe Business Customer Gateway

• Connects a business location’s information across all USPS applications

• Associates every Permit and Mailer ID issued

• There may be multiple Permit Numbers or MIDs associated to asingle CRID

• When submitting eDocumentation, a CRID is required, which identifiesthe business entity that is submitting the electronic documentation

Mailer IDs• The Mailer ID (MID) is a 6- or 9-digit number assigned by

the Postal Service that is used for:

• Identification in the Intelligent Mail® mailpiece, handling unitand container barcodes

• Electronic documentation (eDoc) to identify the mail owner,mailing agent, or other service provider.

• Mail owner data delegation for receipt of Full-Servicefeedback

• MIDs are acquired / managed through the Mailer IDservice on the Gateway

Mailer IDs• Mailer IDs are associated to business locations (CRIDs)

• Multiple Mailer IDs may be linked to a single CRID

• The number of Mailer IDs available to a customer is basedprimarily on documented historic mail volume• A 6- digit MID is issued based on annual volume of 10 million

pieces

• A 9- digit MID is issued based on annual volume of 1 million pieces

New Accounts

• New user creates username andpassword

• New users request access to services andbusiness locations when signing-up or

– Services and business locations can also berequested for new users by the BusinessService Administrator (BSA)

• A user requests a service by selecting oneof the service links

• Most services require a BSA

4. Once all theinformation hasbeen entered, clickthe Create Accountbutton located onthe bottom right ofthe screen

5. Once you are registered, a confirmationscreen will appear. Wait a few secondsand the screen will automatically updateso that you can then select the BusinessServices you wish to be accessible to youraccount

Adding Services to Your Account6. You will see a list of the

available business services.Click on “Manage MailingActivity” to add the service toyour account. This will allowyou to submit electronicmailing data, view permitinformation & mailing reports

7. The service you selected nowappears. Notice that the CRIDwas automatically created behindthe scenes when you selectedyour service(s) from the previousscreen. Click on the checkbox toassociate this service with thislocation and click on “Next”

BSA Access Granted10. After accepting the BSA

role, a confirmationscreen will appear. Click“Continue” to advance tothe BCG home page.

9. When creating a new useraccount, if no one from thislocation has previouslycreated an account andaccepted the BSA role, youwill be prompted to acceptit. If you do not accept it,all requests for serviceswill be pending and youwill be unable to proceeduntil someone acceptsthis role

Business Service Administrator (BSA)

• Key contact for a BusinessLocation for the managementof the selected Service

• Approves new usersrequesting access

• Deactivates users who nolonger need access

• A business may have differentBSAs for different services orbusiness locations

• The BCG sign up process is set up to promptthe first user who requests access to abusiness service from a new businesslocation to assume the BSA role

• If the user declines, the service request goesinto a pending status until there is a BSA forthis service at the business location

• The BSA may assign additionalapproved users to theBSA role

How do I link my permits?

• A permit may only be linked to one CRID

• Multiple Permits may be linked to a single CRID

• For a Periodical, a separate link is needed foreach original and additional entry

• Mailing Agents DO NOT need to have theircustomer’s permits linked to their account tosubmit mailing information on their behalf

Gateway Account – Permit Profile

• BSA can validate and link permits to a company’s onlineaccount

• To link a permit, the following information must be provided:• Account (Permit) Number• Account (Permit) Type• Zip Code (where permit is held)• Amount from any of last 10 transactions (postage statements)

1. You can access theMailer ID service torequest a Mailer ID fromthe Gateway welcomescreen. Under the Design& Prepare section, selectthe “Mailer ID” link

4. Next, to apply for a MID, select the type of MIDthat you are eligible to receive:

• A 6-digit MID is issued based on annual volume of10 million pieces

• A 9-digit MID is issued based on annual volume of 1million pieces

5. Next, select the quantity of MIDs you would like torequest. Place that number in the rectangular box andclick Request MID.

• Mail Owners/Preparers with sufficient volume canrequest five 6-digit MIDS or ten 9-digit MIDs
