NDTV INDIA

NDTV was the brainchild of its Chairman, Prannoy

Roy and his wife Managing Director, Radhika Roy.

In 1988, NDTV's producers produced a news and

current affairs show ‘The World This Week’ for

Doordarshan.

In 2003, they launched two 24-hour news channels—

NDTV 24x7 in English and NDTV India in Hindi.

NDTV PROFIT NDTV Profit is a business news channel started by New

Delhi Television in January 2005. Started to provide

competition to the monopoly enjoyed by CNBC-TV18.

It has a large number of journalists covering the action

from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the

National Stock Exchange of India (NSE)

On 14 December 2006 NDTV Profit was launched a

video screen at the BSE building

The NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards

was started by NDTV Profit in July 2006. The first

edition of this saw the awards being given away to

entrepreneurs by the Indian Prime Minister

Manmohan Singh. Nandan Nilekani of Infosys

Indian.

Imagine TV is a Hindi general entertainment

channel.

The channel was established by NDTV Group

under the stewardship of former STAR India CEO

Sameer Nair.

The channel, was launched in India on January 21,

2008 as NDTV Imagine.

NDTV GOODTIMES NDTV Good Times is an India-based lifestyle television

channel that is owned by New Delhi Television.

The channel is a joint venture between NDTV and Vijay

Mallya's UB Group and it launched in September 2007.

Programming includes talk shows, cooking shows,

programs on fashion, health & wellness, technology and

Indian marriages.

STRATEGY FAILURE & RECOVERY

The NDTV Group has terminated its pact with the US-based Scripps

Networks Interactive Inc (Scripps) to introduce lifestyle channels in India.

In a filing to the BSE, NDTV said it has decided to exercise its right to

terminate the definitive agreements and was in the process of terminating

them.

However, the company did not give any reason for terminating its agreement.

The NDTV scrip fell 3.27 per cent to close at Rs 116.85 on the BSE.

NDTV had reached a definitive agreement with Scripps last November to

create a strategic alliance for lifestyle channels in India.

The transaction would have resulted in Scripps acquiring 69 per cent stake in

subsidiary NDTV Lifestyle Ltd that runs television channel NDTV Good

Times.

NEW STRATEGIC MOVE

The NDTV Group posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 117.65 crore

aided by a one time gain of Rs 337 crore from the stake sale in

subsidiary NDTV Imagine to Turner Asia Pacific Ventures for the

year-ended March 31, 2010 on revenues of Rs 584.21 crore.

South Asia Creative Assets Limited, a subsidiary of Astro All Asia

Networks plc, will acquire a 49% stake in NDTV Lifestyle Holdings

Private Limited. NDTV Lifestyle Holds Private Limited is the

proposed holding company for NDTV Lifestyle Limited, the lifestyle

subsidiary of NDTV .
