NEBDN Certificate in Dental Radiography

Applicants will received a minimum of 20 hours verified CPD after attending this programme.

Objectives The course will cover: Radiation physics Radiation protection X-ray apparatus and equipment Film types, intensifying screens, darkroom

requirements and processing Digital imaging NB: You will need to be able to take inter-oral radiographies, bitewings, A’s, bisecting an-gels and occusals in addition to OPGs and cephs in your own practice in order to com-plete your record of experience. Outcomes You will have knowledge of: The principles of radiation physics and

protection Current legislation and safe practice with

regards to dental radiography Safe use of apparatus and equipment Film types and their uses Intra-oral, extra-oral and digital x-rays and

demonstrate competency through the completion of a record of experience.

Assessment of learning 1. The record of experience is designed to

provide a record of activities completed, consisting of:

Log sheets Expanded case studies Appendices

2. An examination consisting of a multiple choice question paper.

Entry Requirements In order to undertake the qualification you must be:

Registered with the General Dental Council Supported by your employing dentist, to

allow time and access for training and validate the workplace activities for your record of experience
