Nehemiah

Chapter 13July 2, 2006

2 Chronicles 31:11Hezekiah gave orders to

prepare storerooms in the temple of the LORD, and this

was done.

Ezekiel 8:6-12And he said to me, "Son of man, do you see what they

are doing-- the utterly detestable things the house of Israel is doing here, things

that will drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will

see things that are even more detestable." Then he brought me to the entrance to the court. I looked, and I saw a hole in the wall. He said to me, "Son of man,

now dig into the wall." So I dug into the wall and saw a doorway there. And he said to me, "Go in and see the

wicked and detestable things they are doing here." So I went in and looked, and I saw portrayed all over the walls all kinds of crawling

things and detestable animals and all the idols of the house of Israel. In front

of them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel, and Jaazaniah son of Shaphan

was standing among them. Each had a censer in his

hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising. He said to me, "Son of man, have

you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, 'The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken

the land.'"

Ezekiel 8:6-12And he said to me, "Son of man, do you see what they

are doing-- the utterly detestable things the house of Israel is doing here, things

that will drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will

see things that are even more detestable."

Ezekiel 8:6-12Then he brought me to the

entrance to the court. I looked, and I saw a hole in

the wall. He said to me, "Son of man, now dig into the

wall." So I dug into the wall and saw a doorway there. And he said to me, "Go in and see the wicked and

detestable things they are doing here."

Ezekiel 8:6-12So I went in and looked, and I saw portrayed all over the walls all kinds of crawling

things and detestable animals and all the idols of the house of Israel. In front

of them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel, and Jaazaniah son of Shaphan

was standing among them.

Ezekiel 8:6-12Each had a censer in his

hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising. He said to me, "Son of man, have

you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, 'The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken

the land.'"

Deuteronomy 27:15"Cursed is the man who

carves an image or casts an idol-- a thing detestable to the LORD, the work of the

craftsman's hands-- and sets it up in secret." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

Psalm 90:8You have set our iniquities

before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

Jeremiah 23:24Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and

earth?" declares the LORD.

Luke 11:24-27"When an evil spirit comes

out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says,

'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and

put in order.

Luke 11:24-27Then it goes and takes

seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is

worse than the first."

Jeremiah 17:19-22This is what the LORD said to

me: "Go and stand at the gate of the people, through which the kings of Judah go in and out; stand also at all

the other gates of Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 17:19-22Say to them, 'Hear the word

of the LORD, O kings of Judah and all people of Judah

and everyone living in Jerusalem who come through these gates. This is what the

LORD says:

Jeremiah 17:19-22Be careful not to carry a load

on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of

Jerusalem. Do not bring a load out of your houses or do

any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your

forefathers.

Amos 8:5"When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended

that we may market wheat?"

2 Samuel 10:4So Hanun seized David's

men, shaved off half of each man's beard, cut off their garments in the middle at

the buttocks, and sent them away.

Ezra 9:3When I heard this, I tore my tunic and cloak, pulled hair

from my head and beard and sat down appalled.
