WELCOME TO NENAGH ARTS CENTREWelcome to our Spring 2015 brochure. We’re delighted to get some high calibre acts into the Centre for the new year and we hope we are reaching you with a diverse programme. In relation to drama, we’re particularly excited to have the new Fishamble play UNDERNEATH playing here in March. Pat Kinevane has produced some startling work in the last few years and this new play is no exception. Local actress Áine Ryan performs her well-regarded show KITTY IN THE LANE in January and we have the new Nenagh Players show in February.

Kilkenny’s Barnstorm Theatre come in February with their children’s play MONDAY’S CHILD and we are screening some movies as part of a broader children’s programme also. Cinema in the Town Hall returns with Irish director Donal Foreman’s OUT OF HERE on January 22nd and we have films from Germany, France and America. In music, THE FUREYS will play their rescheduled concert on March 28th; THE NUALAS bring their comedic musical touch earlier that month and we have classical concerts with guitarist JOHN O’SHEA in February and TRIO ELATHA on January 10th.

The programme also includes a number of Nenagh related events, a concert evening in relation to the MUNSTER FLEADH, the new film from Alan Brown about THE CORMACK BROTHERS and the annual St. Patrick’s week concert OMÓS PHADRAIG.

OUT OF HEREDir. Donal Foreman | Ireland | 2013 | 80 mins | Cert 15A

Having returned from a gap year in Asia, Ciaran (‘What Richard Did’s Fionn Walton) struggles to reconnect with his old friends and the girl he left behind. Recession Dublin is little or no fun for the ex-backpacker, who finds himself broke and living with his parents.

Young Irish director Donal Foreman fulfils the early promise of his well-regarded short films with this restrained piece about coming home and the choices involved.

TRIO ELATHAFormed in 2012 TRIO ELATHA, with founding members Ailbhe McDonagh and Brendan Walsh, bring together elements of Irish folk and classical music. Their concert programmes feature arrangements of traditional Irish tunes coupled with their own compositions.

In September 2013, violinist Lynda O’Connor joined the group. They are all avid chamber musicians in varied genres, collaborating with such artists as Michael Collins, Chee Yun Kim, Michael O’Suilleabhain, Michael Buble and DeDannan. Recently, the group has taken a break to compose some of their own new material, but have a busy schedule planned for the 2015 season. Their visit to Nenagh is part of an introduction to their soon to be released new album.

MONDAY’S CHILDTogether in a dream-like garden, they sing and dance and dress up, as they explore a treasure trove of memory boxes.

This play tells the simple poetic story of the unique bond between a little girl and an old woman suffering memory loss. A sensitive, yet funny story, it explores how we collect memories and how these shape who we are. While children fully engage with the characters and adore a succession of colourful surprises, the play also resonates strongly with adults, making this an ideal family show.
