Widgets:Visually and experientially the system will appear as a portal for widgets. This design allows for an open and extensible system which can growto accommodate future developments and tools. Tabbed pages will allow for default pages andwidgets, making the system accessible to novice users, but also allow advanced users to customize their experience to suit their needs. NENu widgets which facilitate functions in the system can also be exported to netvibes and igoogle, giving users a choice of where to access NENu materials and functionality.

Streetbuzz:Streetbuzz is a micro-blogging experience on NENu which exposes the user to unplanned difference. Byexperiencing difference in the form of geographically relevant micro-blogs from friends and strangers alike, users of the system are encouraged to develop a broader view of their neighborhood, as well as discover capacities which otherwise might have remained outside of the users cognitive horizon. By experiencing more of their neighborhood streetbuzz cultivates a broader more tolerant experience of the users neighborhood.

Peer-Reviewed ContentLearning content (tutorials, guides, courses, etc.) is community and demand driven. Any user, regardless of status or experience is able to start a course or tutorial. Once started the tutorial is open for review and comments by other users. Once the course has been rated by a percentage of users and has received a satisfactory rating, the course or tutorial will appear in the general search area of NENu. Should the average rating over time slip below satisfactory, the course returns to the staging area. The dynamism of these course assures for information to remain accurate and topical while irrelevant or outdated information slowly sinks to the bottom of the information pool.

The NENu Capacity Academy offers a social learning and organizing platform, which connects individual capital to form social capacities empowered by the network effect. By making the distributed and often disconnected skills visible and connecting resources to needs, NENu prepares San Francisco residents to take leadership roles in stewarding their community to becoming cleaner, greener, healthier, more inclusive places to live and work.
