Saleh Al-TurkiChairman & President, Nesma Holding Co. Ltd. Saleh Ali Abdulrahman Al-Turki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the American University of Beirut as well as a Master’s degree in Administration from California State University. In addition to his role as Chairman & President of the board of Nesma Holding Co. Ltd., Mr. Al-Turki also chairs several companies outside the Nesma Group, and served as the Chairman of Albir Society in Jeddahfor over a decade.

Mr. Al-Turki is a previous Chairman of both the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Council of Saudi Chambers. In 2008, he received an honorary doctoral degree in Humanities & Social Sciences from Mindanao State University (MSU), Mindanao, Philippines.

In 2010 he was appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Austria. Mr. Al-Turki remains active in many social and charitable organizations throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Nesma AirlinesNesma Airlines received its first Airbus A320 aircraft, dubbed “Bertha,” from the Airbus facilities in Toulouse, France, in June 2010. The airline is an Egyptian-based charter operator with its commercial hub at the popular Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh. Using an all-Airbus fleet, Nesma Airlines operates flights from cities in several European countries, such as Italy, Spain, France and Poland, to the many popular destinations in Egypt, like Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor and Alexandria.

Nesma & Partners Contracting Co. Ltd. is an award-winning Saudi company that has become a leader in reliability and innovation for mega projects across the Kingdom. Nesma Embroidery Center

Opened in 2009, the non-profit Nesma Embroidery Center aims to empower the local community of hearing-impaired women. The center provides women with jobs after the necessary training is administered, and then a career path with a choice of vocation in the growing sector of clothing design, manufacturing and finishing.

Nesma Training CenterNesma believes firmly in the importance of the human element and the pivotal role it plays in today’s workplace. This was the driving force in establishing the non-profit Nesma Training Center, which is located in Al Rawdah District, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At the center, we offer our community of employees, and members of the public, all the necessary training programs and career path mapping they need to excel at their jobs, from English language courses to high level managerial programs, free of charge.

ScholarshipsNesma understands the important role that education plays in shaping the lives of young men and women. To help create the knowledge-based workforce of the future, Nesma offers scholarships to such institutes as King Abdulaziz University, Effat University, Dar Al-Hekma College, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to name a few.

Investing in the Saudi youth

Mubarak M. Al ShahraniIT Manager, Nesma United Co. Ltd.

Mubarak was accepted for an internship position at Nesma in 2000, while in his final year at King Abdulaziz University where he was studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. He worked between classes to fulfill his internship responsibilities, and when he graduated, was offered a full-time job at Nesma.

Nesma later supported Mubarak by sending him abroad to receive his Master’s degree in Network System Engineering.

Today, he heads a team to implement various integrated networks across Nesma United’s businesses.

Nesma also contributes to the national Saudization program by hiring and training Saudis while working closely with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF). In addition, we provide our own in-house educational and training opportunities in the Kingdom and abroad.

At Nesma, we believe in recruitment at an early stage and we consider the growing number of youth in the Kingdom to be a viable resource for innovation and originality. We also continually champion the integration of women into the workforce by creating jobs for Saudi women and by providing dedicated women-only environments in the workplace.

In Full Support of Saudization

Between 2006 and 2009, and in partnership with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), Nesma & Partners Contracting Co. Ltd. trained and hired around 1,500 young Saudis for various technical and administrative jobs in the company. The training and recruitment process encompassed 7 separate agreements signed between Nesma & Partners and the HRDF, a sign of our commitment to partner with the government to increase the number of Saudis in the private sector.

Naif (left), and Abdullah (right) both graduated from King Abdulaziz University and met in 2003 at a Nesma interview which led to both being hired in Nesma Holding’s finance department. Since then, they have fast-tracked through Nesma’s training and scholarship Master’s programs and are now flourishing managers.

“Our Community” is any place where our presence as a company is felt, whether through a business, or perhaps in areas where our employees or their families live. Our goal is to help provide opportunities for people in these communities to lead respectable and dignified lives.

Nesma supports educational institutions and non-profit organizations whose objectives center on and around job creation. We provide both financial and administrative support to non-profit organizations, which enables them to operate in a more professional manner that earns them recognition and trust, and in turn widens their support and increases their reach.

Albir SocietyAs Chairman of Albir Society in the 90s, Saleh Al-Turki recognized that orphans would require education to realize a future. Through investments in building boarding schools and funding higher education scholarships, Nesma is proud of the great educational achievements of Albir Society’s children.

For over a decade, Nesma has been one of the key supporters, financial and otherwise, of Albir Society: a Jeddah-based charity founded in 1981 to serve the city of Jeddah and the surrounding villages. Albir Society provides a wide range of community programs, such as:

While Nesma’s Corporate Social Responsibility program is not limited to Albir Society, our long-standing relationship with Albir Society remains one of our company’s proudest associations.

Computers for our Children Nesma has an ongoing agreement with the Ministry of Education to donate fully-equipped computer labs to elementary public schools in the Kingdom. The program was launched in 2007, and Nesma has pledged to donate 5 labs every year. By the end of 2009, Nesma had actually donated 31 labs – more than double the number committed for the period. Each computer lab consists of 25 personal desktop computers, one of which is used by the class instructor. Each lab is enabled with a local network and internet connectivity, and include accessories such as tables, chairs, a server, a projector, a scanner and a laser printer.

Nesma Neighborhood Initiative

In 2009, Nesma signed an agreement with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) and the Jeddah Municipality to pay for the complete construction and furnishing of the brand new permanent quarters of Al Rawdah District’s ‘Umda, or Mayor, in Jeddah. Nesma entered into this agreement out of our firm belief in the benefit of revitalizing the once important role played by the ‘Umda.

The ‘Umda was a person of great influence in Old Jeddah, when the city was still small. Residents of a neighborhood would go to the ‘Umda to obtain official letters of reference or to resolve their disputes. While the ‘Umda is still around in modern Jeddah, the position has been marginalized by the modern day police department.

Today, there is a growing consensus amongpeople in Jeddah that the return of the‘Umda’s strength would provide a degreeof government decentralization that wouldpositively impact the level of security andsocial cohesion in our neighborhoods.

Nesma Havatek is a partnership company which provides design, engineering, fabrication and building of storage tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, fire fighting systems and structural steel.

Jollibee

Nesma is the exclusive franchisee of the fast food chain, Jollibee, in Saudi Arabia. Jollibee is a phenomenal success story from the Philippines: what began as a two-branch ice cream parlor in 1975, offering hot meals and sandwiches as well, became incorporated in 1978 with seven outlets to explore the possibilities of a hamburger concept. Thus was born the company that revolutionized fast food in the Philippines.

In 1984, Jollibee landed in the list of the top 500 Philippine corporations. In 1987, barely 10 years in the business, Jollibee made it into the ranks of the country’s top 100 corporations. In 1993, Jollibee became the first food service company to be listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange, thus broadening its capitalization and laying the groundwork for sustained expansion locally and beyond the Philippines.

Nesma Markets: the joy of neighborhood shopping Nesma Markets bakeries & groceries is a chain of small stores in Jeddah that specializes in baking all types of bread, both local and international, including white, grain, artisan, savory, sweet, fruit and pastry. Financial Investments Group (FIG), established in 2010, is the financial investments arm of Nesma Holding. FIG is responsible for managing investments such as private equities, marketable securities and minority stakes in companies.

Shaheen Arabia Development Co. Ltd. manufactures and markets the Arab headdress in the countries of the Arabian Gulf under the “Givenchy” and “Dunhill” labels.
