Clause 4.7 Service Protective Device

-Must be located adjacent to or incorporated in the main

switchboard.

-Located no higher than 2.0m to the top of the device and no lower

than 0.5m to the line side terminals of the device above the ground or

platform.

Clause 4.7 Service Protective Device

-If the Service Protective Device is greater than 100amps it must be

designed and installed in accordance with the requirements of

AS/NZS3439.1 Annex ZC arc minimization.

Annex ZC extract:

Typical means of reducing the

probability of initiation of internal

arcing or minimizing its magnitude

or duration, or both, and limiting

its effects are by the provision of

one or more insulation systems

completely surrounding live

conductors.

Clause 4.7 Service Protective Device – Circuit Breakers.

-Grade (discriminate) with the electricity distributor’s protection

-Have the facility for locking and sealing in the ‘off’ position.

-Have adjustable settings sealable such that only authorised persons

have access. Where such settings are located behind a sealed

escutcheon this provision does not apply. (proposed 2010 change)

-Have the line side labelled.

Clause 4.7.2 100A Service Protective Devices and Service Fuses

(proposed 2010 change)

This change to the 2010 edition confirms

that service fuses for direct connect

meters are to comply with the height

requirements for Service Protection

Devices.

Clause 4.13.2 Current Transformer Metering

A sealable isolation device must be provided for CT metered

installations. This isolation device is located on the line side of the

CT’s, which allows each individual tariff or customer to be isolated

and sealed.

Clause 4.17 Current Transformer Metering

-Must be mounted in a segregated section of the switchboard

-All live conductors within 300mm of the secondary terminals, voltage

circuit fuses and metering neutral link must be insulated or screened.

-Where a screen is used it must be fitted with two insulated handles

and be secured to the switchboard. (proposed 2010 change, this

clarifies that if the busbar system is fully insulated a screen is not

required)

Clause 4.17 Current Transformer Metering

-Access door must be capable of opening to 90deg minimum

-Access covers must not be greater than 1sqm in area and the length

must not exceed 1500mm.

-C/T’s, removable bars, voltage circuit fuses and neutral links must be

more then 500mm and less than 2500mm from the ground or

platform.

-There must be a distance of 100mm min and 300mm max from the

C/T terminals to the back of the enclosure door.

-The length of the removable link must be 300mm min and 450mm

max.

Clause 4.2.3Multiple Occupancy Premises

-Metering to be grouped at one metering position

-In a location accessible to all associated tenants

Exceptions

-Multi-storey developments – group the meters together on each floor

-Factory unit developments, shopping centres and malls – locate

external to the tenancies

-Remotely read meters – may be located within the tenancy at

customers expense, refer to electricity distributor

Clause 4.21 Labelling

-Warning labels, lifts and fire services to be red background with white

letters.

-Main Switch labels to have a different background colour to the

background colour used for other labels, unless they are red as

required above.

Clause 4.21 Labelling

Main Switchboards must be labelled with the following information

-The fault rating for 1 second.

-The manufacturers name or trademark.

-IP rating.

-Type, designation or identification number or other means of

identification so that anyone can get relevant information about it

from the manufacturer.
