EDITORIAL

In the beginning of Olympics, athletes, coaches and officials swore to an oath; a promise to abide before, dur-ing and after every game. The oath strengthens the imple-mentation of rules of every game because through this, athletes, coaches and officials committed themselves not to break any rule in any game.

But it is an inevitable fact that almost always these rules are meant to be broken. Officials themselves are the first ones to break the rules; the first persons who make irregularity in a certain event. When others find out these anomalies, they would just shrug their shoulders off. Offi-cials often break rules to pave the way for their bets; to ensure that their team would be the winning team even if they do not deserve to win.

This is what actually happens. At times when offi-cials see that their opponent is a way better than their team, they try to look for loopholes and do hideous acts only to disqualify the better team even if it means breaking the rules.

They are called offi-cials and some of them do not even think twice about breaking the rules and guide-lines of a particular game; what do we call this? -unfairness and anomaly.

Unfair on the part of the athletes who compete with all their might, striving to achieve victory, but their vic-tory seems too far for them when officials get in the way trying to manipulate the events, favoring the team they handle.-a perfect exam-ple of breaking the rule, of lawlessness. If this would be the trend in this institution whenever we have Olympics then better not hold any event like this. We would only shame ourselves by breaking the rules imple-menting lawlessness just to favor teams which are threat-ened by the best ones who deserve for victory.

STUDENTS REACTION ABOUT

THE FLOW OF THE DE-

BATE!!!

The disqualification of the NEX-

US debate team is really not fair.

Maybe they were just threatened

because our debaters’ are obvi-

ously the best.

It’s really unfair! NEXUS debat-

ers’ deserve to continue the fight

against their coward foe! Go

NEXUS!

Very much disappointed! We all

know that if there’s a team who

deserves for the title it is the

NEXUS. They have proven much

their worth and if ever

that NEXUS didn’t get the title,

we still know that WE, the NEX-

US have the right for the crown.

Yes! They were really threatened

because of the NEXUS debaters.

The unexpected thing that hap-

pened only showed that the real

debaters and real fighters were

seen from them.

I was really dissatisfied

on the result of NEXUS’ participa-

tion in the debate. It did not really

go into a fair play. The question is

bakit kung kailan lang nila na-

pansin na hindi kasama sa official

list ang isang kalahok sa grupo ng

NEXUS ay nang matapos na ang

kanilang laban. Isa pang bagay ay

ang mga “Committee” daw na nag

-ta-tally ng score na mga

“Estudyante” NA KABILANG DAW

SA OPPOSING UNIT! Isa pang

bagay ay ang paggamit ng CELL-

PHONE sa pagsasalita ng mga

kalahok. Nasaan ang real commit-

tee? Bakit hindi nila gamitin ang

pag-oras katulad na lang noong

ginanap sa Academic Contest?

Bakit hindi sila nag-release ng

Official List bago simulan ang

laban. Kasalanan ba ng NEXUS

lahat ng ito para ma-disqualified

silang lahat? Kung ganoon ang

rules, bakit hindi nila nalaman

noong una pa, noong bago pa

lumaban ang NEXUS, ano ang

point nila, na hindi nila alam?

SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN School of Arts and

Sciences students has gone

wild when the debate com-

mittee announced that the

team Nexus had been dis-

qualified from the competi-

tion. All of them were disap-

pointed for the decision

made by the event modera-

tor. SAS Organizations de-

cided to have a Signature

Campaign so that Nexus

Debating Team will be able

to compete again.

Nexus and E-nnovators competed for

Volleyball Women.

At the start of the game, the fight

was so tight and the scores of each team

exceeded at one point. Everytime the

opposing team got higher score, Nexus

regained energy and got again the point

until the E-nnovators had their chance to

deprive Nexus from winning. The 1st set,

the scores was 18 –25 in favor of E-

nnovators, for the 2nd set, Nexus

drowned, scoring only 16 to 25.
