Year 11 Camp at Noosa North Shore
Earlier this term the Year 11 cohort along with Mr Nebe, Ms Matthews and Ms Cross ventured to Noosa North Shore to participate in a leadership camp. The students enjoyed the rainy weather while participating in activities including canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, giant swing, pamper pole, surfing and other team building activities. It was a relaxing way to spend Week Two and the teachers were impressed with the students attitudes towards their,
at time, challenging activities.
Hat for a Farmer Junior Campus Roma State College students participated in a fundraiser for BlazeAid which is a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods. Working alongside the rural families, volunteers help to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed. They are currently working across NW Qld to assist with the flood disaster and the ongoing recovery. Across the 3 campuses we raised $700.85. When notified of our fundraising efforts, Kevin and Rhonda Butler (Founders of BlazeAid) replied, ‘What a lovely initiative and we are really grateful to you, staff and students at
Roma State College it’s truly amazing’. Middle Campus

Cert II Hospitality
Don Shaw of the Compass Group, Tallis Landers of SANTOS, along with our Adopt-a-Cops led a presentation to our Hospitality students on Friday 22
nd February.
Don spoke about the avenues for students with a Cert II in Hospitality and the worth of such a qualification, especially while gained at school. Tallis added to that and presented students with a real life example of how his certificate got him to where he is today. Even our Adopt-a-Cop, Dale, relayed to students his 2 years’ experience working in hospitality and the sorts of invaluable skills and knowledge he learnt while in the industry. Students were engaged and asked pertinent questions at the end of the presentation, with Mr Shaw commenting on the outstanding behaviour and manners from the students. We look forward to our next meeting with Mr Shaw later in the year.
