Ballycastle Community Development Office has produced thiscommunity directory for the residents of Ballycastle Town.

It is intended that the information contained herein will act as a publicservice by informing the local community of Ballycastle of the manyvaried groups that currently exist in the town. Such a directory can neverbe exhaustive, but merely provide general indicators of the broadcategories of groups available at the time of printing. While every efforthas been made to provide comprehensive lists, it has only been possibleto include details and contacts of the groups when authorised to do so.

North Antrim Community Network(Ballycastle Community Development Office)

Ballycastle Community Development Office was opened onthe 1st September 2004 to provide a dedicated communitysupport service for the residents of Ballycastle Town.

The project was initiated by North Antrim CommunityNetwork and funded by the Department for SocialDevelopment (DSD) through the Programme for BuildingSustainable Prosperity, for a 21/2 year period.

Ballycastle Community Development Office offers theopportunities for groups to increase their capacity by promotinggood community development practices in Ballycastle Town,as well as assisting the groups to achieve opportunities todeliver programmes. Administrative assistance is available aswell as the opportunity to help secure funding which enablesgroups to increase voluntary involvement.

Community Groups are encouraged to participate in the decisionmaking process, which inspires them to be more involved inthe local decision making process. The Ballycastle CommunityDevelopment Office engages with statutory, voluntary andcommunity groups which enhances the sharing of information,as well as developing links with outside agencies who cansupport groups in the area.

The club are pleased to claim cross-community status.The club meet on a Thursday (from September till June) from 3pm to5pm at the Sheskburn Recreational Centre. There are opportunitiesto play bowls, snooker, table tennis, whist and to take part in keep-fit exercises and quizzes. The group have regular functions, outingsand other activities. One of the main social activities is when thereis the opportunity to meet for tea and a chat halfway through thesession. That is when members are kept informed of any plannedactivities. The membership fee is £8.00 per year and new membersare welcome.
