structural domatns viz.

A) Eastern Ghat Boundary Shear ZoneB) Slleru Shear ZoneC) Koraput - Sonpur She11r ZoneDJ Nagavalll - Vamshadhara Shear Zone

The area lies between Sileru shear zone In the west and Nagavalli - Vamshadhar She11r zone Is Identified as Eastem ghat provides with specific lithology, structure

and metamorphic grade. The area from Salur In the North • Rajahmundry In the south Including Araku - Paderu in the west and Vlzlanagaram - Vizianagaram comes In Eastern ghat provides area with principle litho unit like Khondallte, Chamo-d<ltes, teptynite and cafc granulite.

Vlzlanagaram district forms a part of EGMB exposing all characteristic lltho units or the Eastem Ghat Super Group such as !Khondalite, Chemoklte and Migmatite. The Khondalite group represented by Khondallte (Quartz - Feldspar - Garnet -Sllimanlte - Graphite gneiss). Gale Granulite and Quartzite which occur as lmpe-risistent bands within the Khondallte. The Charnoklte group consists of acid, intermediate ar.d basic varieties. The M igmatite group consists various rock types Including Leptynite, Prophyroblasttc Granltold Gneiss, Garne,t- Biotite -Hypersthene gneiss, Quartz felspathic mobilisates and other associated hybrid rocks.

b) Detailed de:sc.ription of Geology of the lease area

The lease area falls on the Western slopes of the hlUock trending towards NE-SW direction. Geologically rock formation is Khondalite Group of EGMB, medium to coarse grained In texture, gneissic, hard, compact and having Irregular joints, fractures. Due to this, t:he avallable rock is not useful for cutting and polishing Industry, but U$eful for road meal and crusher met.al etc. The slopes of the hillock Is covered with grovel/ Red s.oll and IS used for filling in civil constructions, laying roads etc.

The Khondalite In the area forms dome shaped, steepy sloping hills. The rock is

medium to coarse grained texture com1>osed of greasy quartz, hypersthene, foliated with or· without garnet &. Silimanite. The rock Is mass1ve, with widely spaced vertical to sub vertical joints tre.ndlng In NE-SW direction. It is observed

thal sheet Joints are absent.

PROGRSSIVE MINE CLOSURE PLAN

1.0 ENVIRONMENTAL BASE LINE INFORMATION

I) Existing Land Use PatternThe lease area Is located part of a moun:i. lease area is barren with sparsevegetation like shrubs & bushes. At the foot of the mound, agrfcultural lands are available.

The local plantation is limited to domestic trees like Neem and Eucalyptus. Thelease area contains very less quantity of top soil.

II) Water RegimeThe lease area operations extend upto ground level. The water that is due torains sett les below the mine area. In mast of the cases the quarries do not

operate during rainy seasons. This is due to accumulation of water and not goodfor Safety.

Ill) Human Settlements The nearest village Mangalapalem Is situated 1.3 km due SW of the lease area.Living population of this village is around 2690 (as per 2011 Census). Agrfcultureand cattle rearing are important professiO'l!'. nf the people Hvlng in the villagebesides working in quarries.

Iv) Public Bulldlngs, Places & Monuments No public buildings, Important places and monuments are seen In and aroundthe quarry lease area. The lessee will adopt the safety measures while conducting the quarry operations as per the Regulatlons of Metalliferrous MinesRegulation 1961.

v) Sanctuaries and eco .. sensltlve areasNo Sanctuaries and eco-sensltJve areas are seen in and around the tease area.

vi) Flora and FaunaThe whole area Is occupied by scattered sparse vegetation of thorny trees andsmall bushes.

2.0 Environmental Impact Assessment

Page 24: New Doc 2017-07-08 - Welcome to Environmentenvironmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/...1 I S. Clearance / Consent / No objection from Mlnfstry or Environment and Forest,

(b) Air Quality In Environment

Air quality will not be disturbed in the lease area, as quarrying Is very limited.Highest air polluti01l due lo dust is ccsusi::tJ during drtlllng, excavation, foac11ng

operations and during transportation. The dust is not siliceous, and Is notharmful. The noxious gases will generate due to diesel based vehicles.

However as a precautionary measure the workers of the quarry wear a protective nose mask. The only silver lining in this pollutant's quality Is that this does not contain respirable size of dust as defined under Mines Act-1952. That is

the reason that there are no cases of any lung diseases to the persons working.

AIRQUAUTY

Base Level Allowable Level

SPM = 140µg/m' 360µg/m' RSPM = 601,g/m3 120µg/m' so, = 40µg/m' SOµg/m' N02 = '101'9/ml SOµg/m'

CO= l.Oµg/m' S.Oµg/m3

Air quality at quarries will be filled with du;t, due to drilling, loading, haulage on the road, etc., But It will be within the permissible limits by adopting the following measures:

• The dust rising due to drllllng will be controlled by covering the drill rods withdoth;

, Oust suppression on haul road with sprinkling of water with chemical additives.

• To provide dust masks for the workmen to prevent lnhaflng dust laden air• The speed limits of the trucks will be dictated and overloading of trucks Is

totally avoided which wlll prevent 50% of dust rising on roads.

(c) water Quality

Operations of Building Stone and Gravel quarries In general do not contribute to

the water pollution much. This Is due to the reason one being the material Isgeologically Igneous In origin. This is the reason why the water does not

percolate directly Into the earth. Rather it tries to travel through the cleaveplanes or the joints. The site specific reason for low water pollution is that, thefloor exposed Is Impervious whereas the direction perpendicular to the floor Ispervlous. Thus there will not be any direct contamination.

No water course is passing through the lease area. No adverse efft!ct Is anticipated on the water regime In the area due to quarrying of Building Stone and Gravel. The standards for water q , n below.
