TRANSCRIPT
The last several years at New Hope have been years of numerical and spiritual growth, increased ministries, and an expansion of our facilities.
We are committed to what is called Natural Church Development. Extensive research around the world has indicated that there are eight qualities of a healthycongregation. They are: "Empowering Leadership," "Inspiring Worship," "Gift-OrientedMinistry," "Passionate Spirituality," "Functional Structures," "Inspiring WorshipServices," "Holistic Small Groups," "Need - Oriented Evangelism," and "LovingRelationships."
One of our core values is serving others in our community. The "Helping Hands Ministry," the Adult Day Care Center, Upwards Basketball, Senior Connection,ZUMBA, and Pioneer Clubs are a few of our outreach efforts.
Discipleship development, which is growth in knowing the Word of God and following Christ with obedience, needs to be central for our church. This past year we havestarted a study of Scripture called GROW. We have finished the Old Testament andwe will begin the New Testament in the fall. We will keep teaching these two 28 weekclasses.
We are trusting God to add new converts to the congregation who are becoming alivein Christ. Evangelism is one of the core components for a healty Church.
Our new family life center has provided the church with excellent facilities. The total cost for this addition, including furnishings and equiptment, was $970.000. At the endof 2012 our loan should be under $200,000.
Enjoy reading the new 2012 Church Directory. Learn to know the people of the congregation and use it as a prayer guide for your daily devotions.Ray A. Seilhamer

Our Staff
New Family Life Center
Ground Breaking Service - April 25, 2010.The sun broke through the clouds on a rainy
Sunday morning and over 200 people participated in the ground breaking event where the new family life center would be constructed. This
picture highlights Irene Dunn turning the first shovel of dirt.
Floyd Caldwell, the project manager, is outlining the plans for the construction of the new family life center. Lon Knecht, the site architect and developer, is standing beside Dave Walker, our building committee chairperson. Our children will have great memories of this significant day.
Our children and youth, in addition to adults, participated in the ground breaking ceremony. It
was a strong faith Sunday. A dream of the congregation was becoming reality. We give all
the glory to our Lord for his leadership and resources. He is an awesome God!
Family Life Center Construction
The Amish crew set all of the rafters in less than three hours. It was amazing to see how the Amish
carpenters worked together. The building was taking shape...soon the sheeting and steel would
be placed on the sides and roof.
This is the day of the hugh concrete pour. The colored concrete was leveled and smoothed with facinating machinery. What an exciting drama to see the building change every day. Many feet will walk these concrete floors to the glory of God.
The 135 foot long family life center is taking shape and we can now visualize what the external view will look like on the east side of the building. This
is a place for worship, education, fellowship, athletic events, dinners, concerts, and many
special functions.
Senior Connection
A delicious meal, with wonderful variety, is certainly one of the highlights for each meeting.
The monthly gatherings usually number between 30-40 people and over 80 indivuals are on the
mailiing list. There are faithful people who come from other congregations for the Senior
Connection experience.
Lynn and Betty Mefferd, and the Senior Connection Leadership Team, plan and implement the monthly programs. Lynn is known for his humorous readings and for his singing. This ministry is only one of a number of ministries for our mature adults within our church and community.
One of our recent educational programs was presented by Sheriff Terry Stoffel. This was a very informative meeting and the participants asked many good questions. Education and inspiration are two of the flatform values for
Senior Connection.
Dinner Theater
It takes teamwork to put on a dinner theater. This photograph includes our kitchen staff and
servers. The church puts on one or two dinner theaters each year. New Hope is blessed with
good workers. The dinner theater is now a debt reduction event for the family life center.
Yep, we have a hill-billie preacher and wife. This picture was taken during the play "Who Dun Stold the Bride?" It was a hoot and the play was directed by Cynthia Clore. Over four nights 500 plus people experienced this dinner theater. It was a celebration of laughter.
New Hope has many creative and talented people. Here is a picture of the New Hope Nuns singing
some cool music during a family talent night. Cynthia Clore had them vibrating the
multipurpose room. The scene was a take-off of "Sister Act."
Upwards Basketball
At half-time for each Saturday game the basketball players and cheerleaders listened to a
short devotional. Upwards Basketball is a program that places a strong emphasis upon faith
in Jesus Christ. The program is built around learning the game of basketball and skill
development. We thank God for all of the coaches who worked an hour each week with their team. Practices sessions were also held at the church
on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Paul Buzzard and Marv Beady are keeping score for a Saturday morning game. Each contest had six periods of six minutes each. Every player played at least three quarters. Parents and grandparents enjoyed attending the games. The church provided a concession stand managed by Carolyn and Tom Gray.
The referees are teaching coaches on the floor. They explained the rules and stopped the game
when there was a need to correct and teach a young player. It was thrilling to see the growth of
each player and cheerleader over the course of eight weeks.
Ministry Highlights
Pastor Seilhamer and Shaun Marion are baptizing Kam Smith. Jesus Christ commanded us to be
baptized after we confess our sins and place our faith in Him. Baptism is a sign of the cleansing of
sin, dying to self and following Christ with obedience. We pray that many people, like Kam,
will surrender their lives to Christ and follow Him. This is the way to live fully alive...forever.
The Valentine Banquet has become a February favorite at New Hope. Here is Zouie Whitacre and Bonnie Lehman having a great time at the dinner in the multi-purpose room. The meal was delicious, the singing great, the sharing meaningful, and the fun gifts were abundant. Strong loving relatinships are the sign of a healthy congregation.
One of our most meaningful ministries at New Hope is "GriefShare." This is a thirteen week healing experience for those who have lost a
significant person in their life through death. Julie Crain, who lost her daughter, Emma, three years
ago, is now the main leader of our GriefShare ministry. Her experience of death has enabled her to be very sensitive to others who have lost loved
ones.
Vacation Bible School
Bible School at New Hope is a great event for staff and children. Last year the theme was
Pandamania, a popular DVBS curriculum. Sandi Marian, and her team, put together an outstanding learning week that was spiritually significant and
fun. We look forward each year to see what the staff will provide for 50-70 children.
Singing is a valuable segment of Daily Vacation Bible School. The children love singing new songs that have an active beat. Kerry Beaver is our music director and our children sing along with her and a music video that includes other children singing to great action music. We appreciate publishing companies who produce excellent materials for the children in our church and community.
One theme in a recent DVBS was Joseph, the young man with the coat of many colors. Amos
Rawley shaved his head to more realistically play the part of Joseph. The exotic background and
other art work was done by Melody Brown. She is a creative and excellent artist. We have used her artistic skill for the past several DVBS ministries.
Miscellaneous Photographs
The Colonial Room is an excellent environment for education classes. This picture is an adult
Sunday School Class taught by Pastor Seilhamer. GROW also meets in this room on Monday
evenings. The room holds 64 chairs and a number of groups meet in this room. The Adult Day Care
Ministry also uses this space on Friday afternoons. We praise God for excellent facilities
at New Hope.
This is a photograph of new members who joined the church on Palm Sunday, 2012. The total membership at this date is 150 individuals. Every congregation is diverse and people come together around a common set of doctrinal beliefs, a philosophy of ministry, a vision, and a commitment to serve the church and community.
Janice and Meg Michaelson are special sisters. They lost both of their parents in 2011 and have
been involved with GriefShare. We prase God that the Holy Spirit comforts us in our grief and helps
us to live again. These two ladies have been trained in "clowning." There is a possibility that
Janis may be giving a kidney to Meg soon.
