*HYMN #390 O Savior, in This Quiet Place ST. STEPHEN

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) led by Lucille Sweet How easily we have forgotten you, O God of our salvation. We imagine that our prosperity is of our own design. We wander into paths of self-righteousness and self-congratulations and greed. We compare ourselves with those whose sins are public knowledge and consider ourselves better than they. O God rescue us from the evil inside us that alienates us from others and from you. We humble ourselves before you, seeking forgiveness and grace. L. LORD, have mercy. P. Christ, have mercy. L. *All who are able, please stand. Bold for participation by the congregation.

WELCOME, ALL WHO WORSHIP HERE. You are cordially invited to stay after this service for refreshments and conversation in the fellowship hall. The doors of the church are always open to those who wish to unite with this congregation of God’s people. The Session can receive you by profession of faith in Christ (with Holy Baptism, if you have never been baptized), by reaffirmation of faith, or by transfer of letter from another Christian church. Please see one of the elders.

IF YOU WERE UNABLE LAST SUNDAY TO FILL OUT A MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONNAIRE, PLEASE STAY BRIEFLY TODAY and do so this morning. Whether or not you are an actual member or else a friend of the congregation, we need your input. (You will still have time for refreshments and conversation.) Our Pastor Nominating Committee, when we elect its members, will use the results to help them to discern what gifts are most needed in the new pastor whom

the congregation will eventually call. Many thanks to Jim Burkins for drafting the questionnaire. DR. AND MRS. MOUNGER ARE RETURNING THIS WEEK from having attended the Wee Kirk conference, Montreat, NC, retreat center of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), near Asheville. The Rev. Bill Westmoreland is continuing to stand by in case of dire emergency in the congregation. In such an event, you may reach him on his cellular phone (513) 702-4442. ENDS!

TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6, STANDARD TIME WILL RESUME. Please turn your time pieces BACK on hour, or you’ll be an hour too early for Sunday school and worship!
